Jaguars Draft:

1-12: Vic Beasley - Otto - Clemson  (Otto of the future)

1-19: T.J. Clemmings - OT - Pittsburgh (Take the developmental//Raw high ceiling OT that can step in for LT/RT depending on Joeckel panning out or not)

2-36: Preston Smith - DE - Mississippi State (Jags get their Leo of the Future)

3-67: Jesse James - TE - Penn State (The RB board is still plentiful but the TE run is on…Jags grab their inline//Blocking TE in James and cut/trade M.Lewis)

4-100: David Johnson - HB - Northern Iowa (Jags grab the RB to pair with D. Robinson)

5-131: Chris Conley - WR - Georgia (Jags take a burner to hopefully develop into a deep field stretcher)

6-164: Jalston Fowler - FB - Alabama (Jags grab the versatile FB that can run//block//catch…Toby Gerhart is cut with this pick)

7-195: Adrian Amos - S - Penn State (Jags add another body to the FS competition)
I know everybody has been locked on Shelton to the Bears for a while, but with Brandon Marshal shipped out, I can't see them not taking Amari Cooper or Kevin White if they are there at #7 over a space-eating NT.  Look at their WR's after Jeffery ... they're pathetic.  And of course the Vikings now have Mike Wallace, so I don't see them taking Parker .  In your scenario, he could possibly drop to the Saints or 49ers, but I have the Rams taking him after the Raiders take White and Bears take Cooper.

As far as the Jags picks go, I have to wonder if Bud Dupree wouldn't now be a better fit.  We have Skuta to start at Otto.  Dupree could replace the soon to be 34 year-old Clemons at RDE as the starter, with Clemons subbing in different positions.  Also, no way I personally would take a back-up OT project at #19.  I'd take Todd Gurley, future star/stud RB there all day, repaired ACL and all.

Does anyone really believe Chip Kelly? The Eagles have discussed trading up with most everyone in the top 10. They looked at the cost and now are trying like heck to get Mariota to drop down to the preferred trading partner. Look for more comments as the draft approaches to accomplish this.

Heck if Tampa takes Winston and Tennessee the stud DL I hope the Jags take Mariota. It actually would be nice to have the guy on our team. He could take a year holding the clipboard and learning. Also, I am hoping this we will be our last chance to have this opportunity to draft a QB like this in the coming years.

Lastly the heck with Kelly they have our phone number....

Preston Smith would step In for Leo.

I think Otto is going to be one of the hardest position to find the talent that can do everything ask of it..Beasley is that.

Clemmings can be our LT if Joeckel continues to struggle and if he pans out Clemmings can be our LG until Parnell is ready to be unseated.

Gurley is a gamble...a devalued position and injured goods. I prefer to play it safer especially in a deep RB draft.

I thought Preston Smith was a litle big for LEO.  He's like 6'5" 280.  Thought he was more of a DE/DT tweener, not DE/OLB, but might be wrong.  Beadles, who they paid big for last year is the starting LG for years to come, unless I am missing something.
After trade with Cleveland (Jags get #12, #19 and #77 - CLE gets #3):

1. DE/OLB Alvin "Bud" Dupree (12) *Immediately starts at RDE for 33 year-old Clemons, who becomes back-up

1. RB Todd Gurley (19) *Starter by mid-year and future stud RB/star-power we need, in the mold of Marshawn Lynch

2. LB Shaq Thompson (36) *They want more speed in the LB corps

3. WR/KR Tyler Locket (67) *Slot WR and KR Caldwell now covets

3. OC Reese Dismukes (77) *Best Center in Nation said to be perfect for a zone blocking scheme

1. DE/OLB Alvin "Bud" Dupree

1. OT/OG Brandon Schreff

2. ILB Stephone Anthony

3. WR/KR Tyler Lockett

3. RB T.J. Yeldon

I see Bud Dupree as an more of an ideal OTTO. I'd be fine with the pick, although I'm not sure I'd take him over Beasley.

Also, your mock is missing the next Beastmode...Ameer Abdullah. Abdullah probably doesn't get out of round one, but I'm still hoping he might be there for the Jaguars in round two unless you are right about getting Gurley (or Gordon) in round one. I'd say there's no chance Ameer escapes the top 40.

I was thinking that if the Browns were to give up both Rd 1 picks to move up to Pick 3, they would probably want the Jags Rd 3 selection (Pick 67). So essentially the trade would be two picks for two picks. We have been seeing more and more the inclusion of draft picks to balance out trades because teams still need to restock their rosters through the draft.

Still Picks 3 and 67 for Picks 12 and 19 is not a bad trade for either team.

No way the Jaguars should offer anything more to make this trade. Per the draft value charts, the Browns two first round picks together are worse less than the #3 overall. If anything, the Jaguars should be asking for more. I'd say...

The #3 overall for the #12, #19 and the Browns 4th round pick (#140). Now this is a fair trade although the Browns still are getting the better deal per the charts here.

I didn't forget Abdullah.  Just kept skipping him because he didn't see to fit.  He is far from the next Beastmode.  From what I recall, Abdullah ran a lot slower than expected and has dropped.  All those RB I listed might not be picked ahead of him, but I highly doubt he goes in the 1st.  Maybe late 2nd.  Probably could put him with Dallas instead of David Johnson though.  Just thought Johnson fit there one-cut scheme better.

Exactly.  That's why I have the Jags both the Browns' 1st round picks and a 3rd rounder for just our #3 overall.  No way Caldwell would go for less, I would hope.
One more idea with some changes.  Here the Browns move up to get WR Kevin White at #3.  Hear me out on the reasons for this:

1) I doubt the Browns give up on Manziel and cut him after only one year, even with a new regime, and they just brought in Josh McCown to start.

2)So I can't see the Browns giving up picks to have McCown starting and two very high 1st round QB's at #2 and #3 behind him

3)The Browns are desperate for a WR1.  Right now Brian Hartline would be their WR1.  Yuck.

4)They know there is a 95% chance the Raiders take White at #4, so they can easily justify taking him at #3.

5)White is being compared to Julio Jones, and will make any QB look better with his freakish abilities.

Oakland then takes Cooper instead of White for a nice consolation prize, and Mariota slips to the Jets or Rams.  I'm still not sure the Jets take him over one of the OLB/DE's though.  That might be where Chip Kelly does the deal to move up for him, or Mariota slips to the Rams.

If you will notice, New Orleans continues to make headlines and also makes a move up here to grab the impact player perfect for their defense.  They know Beasley won't last till #13, and ALL the top 5 pass rushers may very well be gone by then.

Jags second 1st round pick changes to OT/OG Brandon Schreff here, with Caldwell opting for safe value over the surgically-repaired Todd Gurley. (I wouldn't like this since I am a fan of Gurley, but just throwing out a different scenario I think Caldwell might be more comfortable with).  RB is taken in the 2nd instead.  Could be Coleman or Abdullah just as easy as Ajayi, but I am hearing more and more that Ajayi will be the 3rd back taken.

Wait a minute, why do I feel like I am doing all of Stigma's work for him?

Checking on WalterFootball.com latest mock draft the following players are available for selection:

Rd 1(3): Dante Fowler - DE Leo - Florida

Rd 2(36): Maxx Williams - TE - Minnesota

Rd 3(67): Jay Ajayi - RB - Boise State

Rd 4(103): Tyler Lockett - Slot WR/KR - Kansas State

Rd 5(138): Kurtis Drummond - FS - Michigan State

Five potential starters for the Jags in the next few years.

I would love this draft class.

Abdullah's didn't run the top 40 time as expected, but he placed first in virtually every other drill. I hardly think his combine performance dropped him. If anything it solidified him as a top back. I see him as easily top three in the mix with Gurley and Gordon.

I meant to say #140 for the Browns...not #108...as that's their 4th round pick. For their 3rd round pick, the Jaguars would probably need to balance the trade a little more by throwing in say their 5th rounder. Like the #3 and the the Jaguars 5th for the Browns two firsts and their 3rd.

I'm still thinking the Jaguars do a slight trade down... get Ray, Gregory, Fowler or Beasley toward the latter part of the top 10... ending up with two second round picks, the first of which they spend on RB Ameer Abdullah. Maybe they can get a FS with the other.

I don't see Ajayi making it out of the 2nd in real life, do you?

If you look at my latest rambling up above in post #391, I gave the Jags Ajayi in the 2nd, but to make you happy I said it could just as easily be Abdullah.  LOL

I feel like Ajayi is going to bust out in the NFL as teams realize the man has no moves or cutting ability in his game. He's a one-trick pony dependent on his speed, but he's only a 4.6 guy at that.

Maybe you are thinking of Tevin Coleman when you say he has no moves.  Not sure where you are getting your info, but...

From NFL.com on Ajayi:

Strengths:

Good size and great feet. Former soccer player with sudden feet. Able to string together multiple moves at a time. Varies speeds as a runner and can call on second gear when he sees daylight. Hips and feet always in sync thanks to soccer background. Shows enough wiggle to make defenders miss and can create and improvise if creases aren't offering much. Runs with wide base and generates leg drive to push. Plays with bend and bursts through the hole with low pad level. Reliable yards-after-contact back. Accelerates into contact on second level. True weapon out of backfield with adequate hands and good feel for maximizing each catch in space. Twists and turns and fights to fall forward. Asked to be physical, downhill runner between tackles and he obliged. Shows good blitz recognition.

NFL Comparison

Marshawn Lynch

Sources Tell Us

"Of all the backs in this draft, Ajayi might be my favorite because he can do everything you want from a back and you don't have to find a complementary back to pick up the slack for him in any one area." -- AFC scout in charge of grading running backs

Abdullah, who you called "the next Beastmode", had a slower 40, his NFL comparison was Andre Ellington, and although he has good hands, the write up said he has issues with pass protection.  I think I'd prefer Ajayi.
