That's why I wouldn't tax food, household products, and other essentials. It encourages the poor to buy things essential for themselves and their children instead of wasting money on luxuries and then becoming dependent on the government because of it. The poor wouldn't be able to afford many luxuries, but they would be able to afford more food than they ever have, assuming other libertarian ideas are also adopted in conjunction.

You're way too late for that. :thanks:
As I said, I look forward to a time when the government makes you see it my way. :whistling:

You keep looking, because it will never happen.

I don't need to, I already answered his question. I'm talking about the Warren Buffet that thinks our tax policies need fixing.

The same Warren Buffet that claims the rich don't pay their fair share and dodges Billions of dollars in taxes using those some tactics.
If Buffett really felt bad about not paying enough taxes-- he's free to pay more. There's a place on the form where you are allowed to pay more.
He'd also refuse to use loopholes.
Honestly, I'm surprised Obama hasn't tried to use the one thing he's good at -- fundraising -- to try to get money to help close the deficit.

These are some of the most common and stupid responses to the issue.
It's as if someone saying the gaping hole in the wall being used as a door because it's closer to the road needs to be sealed is somehow wrong in stating it needs to be sealed if they walked in through it.
The solution to bad rules isn't for some to voluntarily adhere to standards above what their competitors do, the solution is to fix the rules.

Everyone is already free to operate from the moral high ground, that doesn't mean it's at all relevant to fixing the problem.

Good call ignoring that other article. You'd discover he's been fighting to avoid paying over a billion dollars in taxes he owes the IRS for over a decade, and this is the 2nd time he's been in hot water for avoiding paying taxes. We wouldn't want you to bother with having the facts, so feel free to use his wiki page to soothe your soul.

Now Tim that would require people to live by the Sam standard they advocate we can have none of that.

I know the drill. Apparently, Rush Limbaugh told me what to think. Otherwise I wouldn't have known Buffet is a massive hypocrite, but it's okay because he supports 0bama.

I'm all for everyone, corporations included, to pay their taxes. You agree? It's not ok for Warren Buffet or anyone else. The problem, however, is systemic. The loopholes exist, therefore they are exploited. No one is going to pay taxes out of the kindness of their heart. Close the loopholes and we can flush a lot more money through the proper channels.

These loopholes people keep opining over are no different than the same loopholes most Americans take advantage of with their taxes. If you own a house, you've got loopholes covering your taxes and mortgage interest. You've got loopholes for child care, education, and medical expenses. You've got loopholes for your 401(k). You've got loopholes for dependents. If you own your own business, you've got loopholes for your expenses like fuel and travel. I think people just hear a word and immediately think it's evil or corrupt. Corporations aren't doing anything illegal by looking for every possible way to reduce their tax liability just as individuals are not when they make charitable donations to cut their tax liabilities. Congress talks a good game, but they're not taking any of those loopholes away.

Not if the free market had it's way. The poor would be be paid even less than they already are.

Why than people wouldn't be able to afford their services. In a true free market the goal would be for as many as possible to be wealthy as that's the condition for exchange of services.
