Quote:Yeah, because it's Lewis's job to pry into Blackmon's personal life to the point of intrusion.

This thread just took a turn towards stupid.

Yeah.

Gotta be one of the dumbest things I have read on here.
Quote:this I agree with 100%.

Just to clarify to Rico agenda bito

And also agree with the part where he said that many of the fans around here seem quick to give up on him.

Yep.

Give up on him?

He is suspended indefinitely, we don't know what for.

He has gone off the grid and it seems like nobody from the owner, to the HC, to numerous teammates can get in touch with him.

The team is worried enough about his future that they are prepared to throw two 2nd day picks at WRs.

If not spinning every bit of ambiguous at best scrap of news into some sort of rainbow and unicorns fantasy where Justin Blackmon is fixing his problems, working out like a demon and getting ready to come back mid-season after the NFL magically changes its mind is 'giving up on him', then yeah, people are giving up on him. The team is moving on, everything is in place for the post Blackmon-era Jaguars and the only person who can change that is Blackmon himself.

It is true that the team is moving on via. the formentioned second round draft pick(s). It's also true that B14CKMON will have one of the 53 man roster spots when he's reinstated per GM Caldwell...

W/that being said... We the Jaguars have not given up on B14CKMON...

NH3...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  I know that there are eternal Blackmon optimists like NH3 and TMD who would believe anything they hear about him as long as it's positive, maybe because it's so hard to accept where we drafted a guy who obviously has field talent.  This last example of someone reporting that Justin told them "I'm getting help" being taken literally because there is absolutely no way that he could lie about that.  As far as anyone knows, he could have just said that to get someone who was killing his buzz off the phone so he could get back to drinking/smoking.  Nobody knows.  Remember, this is a man who said he was "done with drinking" after his DUI arrest.

My opinion is that he's done.  Done with the Jags.  Done with the NFL.  Done with football.  I'm not happy about it, but that's the way I see it.  I'm just hoping he does not wind up in the news, if you get my meaning.

Quote:How exactly can a fan give up on him? Is he reading this board? lol

Good Lord I hope not, since some of these comments posted are enough to drive anyone to drink!!!

This isn't exactly a Mensa convention here...
Quote:We sure are quick to jump to conclusions around here. My guess would be that he's been talked to about not associating with bad acquaintances from the past, and in order to do so he's changed his number. I'm sure the team knows his new number, so there should be an option for them to get a hold of Blackmon to ask if Marcedes can get his new number. It sounds to me like Marcedes gave up too easy on Blackmon, and that several fans are ready to do the same.

We're also quick to make assumptions. You're making plenty of them - none of which are backed up by facts.

You're "sure" the team has his new number? How so? You think Lewis gave up too easily? What makes you think that?

I understand people wanting to keep hope alive, but everyone just seems to see what they want to see, not what is. Because we don't know what is.

Well then, take a break and help drive the IQ level up ...
It's hilarious to me how this fan base bashed the heck out the Jags for not drafting players with questionable behavioral problems then when they  draft one with enormous talent he's unable to play because of behavioral problems. Dave Caldwell has already intimated he's unlikely to play for the Jags in the 2014 season.

You tell 'em Mad Dog,

we all know what ardent support and great concern you've shown the Jaguars organization, it's players and it's coaches in the past. Kudos!

Truly dedicated and concerned circa May 2014.

That kind of vintage usually comes in a box, or with a screw cap.

Indeed everything after my first sentence was an assumption. I might as well throw mine out there since everyone else is, and mine is just as valid as anyone else's. As far as the team having his new number, I can't imagine things going well for him if they don't.

yep....and any coaches/ players that I have bashed were proven in time to have deserved just about all of it, i.e. Harris/ Del Rio/ Leftwich/ Marcedes/ etc etc etc.

If I'm defending them, they also deserve it.

And Blackmon's actions warrant no criticism? Some of the things I've seen you throw out regarding the above over the years is much harsher than anything I've seen thrown Blackmon's way in this thread.

I don't doubt for a moment that IF he is reinstated he will immediately be given a roster spot, but that isn't really relevant.

Its not the same as giving up on him, but they have planned for a future without him and that is a pretty strong statement. They have accepted the reality that there is a better than average chance he wont be back or won't be reliable and have taken steps to try and minimize his loss. Do you think if they believed Blackmon would be back, even if it would be a whole season out, they would have spent 2 high draft picks on the position?

They have said time and again, Justin Blackmon is a luxury, he equivalent to the track star who runs a 4.20 signed as a UDFA who could be the next big thing or could fall flat on his face. Yet people are still clinging to a beer and skittles fantasy where every minor snippet of news and speculation somehow shows Blackmon to be on the right track and ahead of schedule. Maybe he is, it would be great to see him out there again, but I, and more importantly the team are not putting any eggs whatsoever in that basket.

Hey man.

Whatever makes you feel better.

Your absolutely correct, we all have our opinions and most of us don't see eye to eye. The opinions that does matter is the Jaguar staffing, i.e. Caldwell and Bradley... When they give up on B14CKMON, I'll follow their leads...

Until Then...
