The only good that could come of this is Blackmon no longer being in denial that he does have a problem. I'm not sure what it is - a drinking problem, depression, both - but hopefully he realizes this is a problem that can't be solved on his own. Take proactive measures like Aldon Smith seems to be doing. By the sounds of his comments, it looks like he'll be doing just that. He doesn't have a choice in the matter anymore.

Quote:Well he's in a program that I assume leads to much closer monitoring.  He's earned himself a lifetime membership to said program so we can't expect him to just avoid getting caught.
Pretty much. Normal players get tested after games. Players in the program either get tested regularly or they can get tested at any time, without notice.
Quote:Once you're in the program you can be tested up to 10 times in a month.

If you're dumb enough to keep doing knowing you'll be tested well....you're dumb.

seriously 10 times a month is once every 3 days Laughing
Quote:We don't need to remember another team's player, we have R Jay Soward to recall.
And Jimmy Smith. And Matt Jones.
Quote:Prob get to see a lot more of Burton & Williams this season now, too
Burton will become no.4 behind Sanders, I think.   Williams is banged up.

Shorts / Brown / Sanders / Burton

Like I said before; when you're an addict you lose the ability to make rational decisions like these.
Let's just pretend he went on IR

And Jimmy.... it was rumored that his "retirement" was merely a cover up of what was to be his next suspension.
Well if we weren't going to get Teddy Bridgewater before.. here we come son.

And Reggie Williams literally just hours before free agency started.

Time to mail in the season folks.

Wouldn't mind Mike Evans if we somehow were in position to take him.

Yeah, when you have that many you tend to forget a few occasionally.

losing blackmon is not going to make the bucs win a game.

Yeah, but Jimmy had a long and great career. Matt Jones at least was in the league for multiple seasons. Blackmon could be done before he's even played in 20 games. Much like R Jay who was a complete waste of a pick.
I suggest someone with a printing press print up "Don't sell to this man" posters and hand them out to all liquor stores and convenience stores in 904.  It'll be Jacksonville's way of helping the helpless.

Anyone remember Charles Rogers?

Unfortunately,   I know the story of Charles Rogers,  living through it as a Lions fan.     It's an ongoing story as Charles Rogers is in constant legal trouble.

As bad as the Charles Rogers story has already turned out,    it currently pales in comparison to the story of DE Reggie Rogers,   the Lions 1st Round pick in 1987.      The latter was largely responsible for 3 teenagers losing their lives in the late 1980's because Reggie Rogers was a drunk driver.      Despite spending 16 months in prison,   Rogers had at least 5 DUI arrests following his release from prison.      He was found dead in Seattle a few weeks ago,   shortly after more legal problems.      Hopefully,   Justin Blackmon will avoid a similar path,  regardless of whether he plays another down of football.

Pretty sure they will have SOS anyway, I was referring to us pulling one out.
Anyone now up for looking for goats or even virgins to sacrifice to appease the football gods?!?

What in the hell did we do to deserve this?!?

liit is sad to see a man with such a monkey on his back that he cannot seem to control. I hope he gets the help he so obviously needs and gets a chance to get on with his life. He has let lots of people down (the team, his family, the fans) and most of all himself. It is a shame to see a waste of his God given abilities. I just hope he gets better and comes back as a better and stronger person...and I hope he gets well enough to play again.

It is sad that people on these boards have no understanding what he is going through. If you have ever had a friend or a family member controlled by addiction you would realize how hard this is.fe.
