I sincerely hope he just gets better for himself as a person. The football player will fall in line if that happens. He's got to get a hold of whatever it is that has a stranglehold on him.

Atleast this didn't ruin our season.

its sad, but better now then next season

Jaguars can't release him. He can't be traded because he has too much talent and with his history the Jaguars  won't get good value. I think this is why WR Josh Gordon stayed put in Cleveland. All Jaguar fans can do is hope that this will help Blackmon turn his life around and that he will come back with a stronger focus in 2014.

Thats all you can do.
I  think he has played his last game as a Jaguar.

Its funny how the NFL network loves to run documentaries talking about how foolish it was for teams to bypass players in the draft because they suspect the player had personal issues. These teams are mocked as the player gets drafted late and has a good NFL career.

However they too often leave out the numerous times teams gamble on payers with poor histories and get burned.

I wonder if we will see the Aaron Hernandez or Justin Blackmon documentary any time soon.

Is reaction from the fan base down there to kick him off the team or give him another chance? As an outsider, it seems better to give him another chance in 2014. But if its the PR nightmare it could be in Jacksonville, that could change things. That's much harder to read from indianapolis.

You hate to have a talent like Blackmon go. But PR might demand it.

based on the reaction of this board I'd say its divided, most are done caring one way or another if he does something great but as far as most are concerned he's just a bum were stuck with

I say kick the entire team out of Jacksonville; Blackmon was one of the only players who did anything on the field. The majority of the rest wouldn't be able to be practice squad players on another team.

What do you expect when we DRAFT players that weren't even a top 10 player on their team in college.

Your point is Blackmon was not one of the 10 best on his OSU team? You cannot possible be serious.

Please don't feed the trolls.

He has no clue.

That is actually a good sign for Blackmon's return. Like it or not this is the best option for the Jaguars. Reaction will be the most emotional right now. So a 50/50 split with the PR and fan base, makes his return likely.

I still think the best case scenario for the Jaguars in 2014 is to have a young franchise QB throwing to Blackmon and Shorts. Nothing in the last 24 hours has changed that.

Read what I said. Blackmon was one of the only players who did anything on the field. Therefore I am not talking about him.

What I am talking about is the majority of the other players we draft, mostly from small schools or players from big schools that wouldn't even be in consideration as a top 10 player on their college roster.

Have more of a clue than you know. I guess reading comprehension is not valued in West Virginia.

Maybe you should learn to write more clearly!  To say that a majority of the players on the roster were not in the 10 best on their individual college teams is at teh very best absolutely ludicrous.  I would probably be well advised to take jagherd's advice. .

If you're not trolling, you are just not very smart.

I think it's more ambivalence.  If they let him go, I think most of us would understand the move.  If they keep him, I get that too.  If I were choosing, I'd take the latter, but only because regardless of what we want, this is his last chance.  May as well see if that sinks in.

Yeah, pretty much.  Even the ones who say to cut him usually say "I'm done with him", which at least to me is a sign that they're done caring about what he does.  But if the Jags keep him, I don't expect big complaints.  Like you said, more "yeah, we're stuck with this guy for the entire trip".

Yes I am sure that Derek Cox was a top 10 player for William & Mary, as was McCray for Appalachian State. How many players that played for a Division I school that are on our roster were top 10 players?

I'm sure you will try to say everyone of the players are but if they were a top 10 player from their college team then we would arguably have enough talent to be able to compete on a weekly basis.

I find it hard to believe that above average college players (those that are in the top 10 on their college roster) can be subpar NFL players on a consistent basis year after year.

We laugh about how Todd McShay and Mel Kiper don't know what they're talking about when they blast the Jaguars for poor picks, but it looks like they actually were right.
It's sad, but there has been a lot of players with issues that ended up better (M. Irvin, C. Carter, etc.). How ever disappointed we are with him, he has too much talent to just give up on him. With the character of our leadership, I think they will try and provide more help and see if he can turn things around. If another situation arises or something happens, next year, I think he would be struck out; and his NFL career could be over. But I think we give him one more chance.

I think they will stick with him and give him one more chance to straighten out like you said.
