Quote:This isn't directed towards any specific poster here, I just think It's pretty ridiculous how some of you are treating this situation. Our countries treatment of people with mental issues, including addiction problems, is downright saddening.
Here's my take on it.

First off, anyone who thinks that it's easy to beat an addiction has not been around somebody fighting one. If people think less of Blackmon because he has an addiction or two, then that's on them. Addictions are tough to overcome, and they are very similar to diseases in how they progress.

My issue with Blackmon is that he, as an NFL player, has access to all kinds of support services offered by the NFL and NFLPA. He also has far more than enough money to investigate treatment options on his own. If you or I were to pick up a debilitating addiction, we'd probably be fired from our jobs, and we'd struggle to afford any kind of meaningful, helpful treatment.

It says something about the character of someone who's drafted fifth overall then picked off for DUI before signing. It says even more when he's suspended for four games and then, within weeks of coming back, gets suspended for the rest of the year for the same thing. Based upon appeal timelines, it's entirely possible that this suspension comes from a failed test during his four-game suspension. The franchise and Jacksonville have put a lot of faith in Justin Blackmon, and given him the benefit of the doubt on a few occasions now. He's rewarded the team that spent millions on him and the city that put its trust in him by refusing to address his demons, and instead issuing statements that he knows are lies about how he's working to improve and won't let it happen again.

I hope the Jaguars take back every red cent they can from him. I hope they don't rework his contract giving him the chance to earn it back as incentives. I can't think of any stronger wake-up call than taking a few zeroes back from his bank account, and wishing him luck getting that money back when the team drops a wideout who's one infraction away from a potential lifetime ban into free agency in early 2014.

The only thing to do is hope for the best. He has the talent just does not have the mindset. I know from experience marijuana is not addicting. If it indeed was marijuana again, you can't blame that on addiction but stupidity.
If it was Tweed indeed, w/or w/out the seed, B14CKMON has a mountain to climb...

Venturing within places where the sun sometimes doesn't shine...

Help is needed, Help is on the way as he remain a Jaguar on this sad day...

It's better to support rather than abbort a player in need, A Good Player Indeed...

Thanks to Bradley, thanks to Caldwell B14CKMON get's to remain a Jaguar...

Undoubtly on his last leg whether good or bad, having to travel a distance, seemingly far...

Good Luck B14CKMON...

Is this poetry or just a weird way of writing a message? It seems vaguely poetic to me, but I'm terrible at poetry so... yeah.

Too soon!!!  LOL I am still heartbroken though...
So if Blackmon does get suspended again after this, it's safe to say he'll be permanently banned from the NFL, right?

I think so - at least if bad stuff has to happen to Jags its is all in one year....

Quote:He gets paid 2M next year. I don't care if he shot someone. I can name several players on this team that still need to go before him.

Even if he shot one of your kids? Lay off the shooting remarks plz. Some of us still remember the Collier shooting and don't think it's funny throwing them around.

I hate to say this  - but I feel like we are snake bit? Am I nuts?

Quote:Nevermind.......
this is somthing that probably didnt happen recently. he had time to negotiate with the nfl to only suspend him the rest of the season and not an entire calender year. maybe he missed another meeting. anyway DC probably already knew he was getting suspened and there was no team wanting to trade for a player about to be suspened for a year.

Quote:Do some research please

Research sucks.. Just do what i do and shoot from the hip..
