And all I said was that I would like to see it for entertainment value and to see how much better his stats would be.

You said he was only adequate because he wasn't in Oregon yet Daniels was very good in the same offense. Logic says Gabbert would be worse in a similar offense. Dont understand what it proves.

To summarize:
The point he's trying to make is Gabbert would be no better in Oregon's offense as he was at Mizzou, based on the fact that he put up pedestrian numbers at Mizzou with basically the same team that Chase Daniels had, who was considered inferior to Gabbert but was able to put up record setting stats.

Marginally at best. Mizzou was a top 15 offense in the nation before Gabbert happened.

Because like Gabbert going into his draft, Mariota is overrated.
Having a double threat QB would certainly be fun to watch.. but at the end of the day I want the guy who can take over a game and throw dots.
I wonder if the same people who would chose Mariota over Bridgewater would chose RG3 over Luck...

Never even made that comparison. I am talking Mariota (gimmick, one read, spread option qb) over Bridgewater (pro style, multi read, call plays at the lines qb)

I agree......Gabbert would have never had that 70 yard run for a TD that Mariota produced the other game.....lolz (as if that play will ever be duplicated on an NFL field)

Otherwise, it doesn't matter, Mariota and QB from that system and similar college offensive systems like it, pale in comparison to a QB like Teddy Bridgewater, who is light years ahead of them from a football IQ perspective. Mariota and his one read and take off repitiore will struggle to adapt to the pro game unless a select few teams draft him. (Kelly/ Belchick/ Harbaugh)
You miss Kaps big run in the playoffs? I've seen luck pick up 30 yards running from the pocket.
It's not common (no one says it is) but it's possible with an athletic qb.

Yeah, and that was against a garbage Green Bay defense that Kaep similarly shredded in week 1 this season, too.
Also, a not saying QB don't run and pick up yards......I'm saying that play that Mariota had in college where he took the snap ran directly up the middle of the field for 70 yards, untouched for a score simply won't happen in the NFL and it won't. But that won't stop mouthbreathers from being influenced by such plays and especially when that combine comes around and Mariota blows up and gets all those fancy 40 times, and benches 225 30 reps, etc etc......you know, stuff that really doesn't matter for an NFL QB..... :blink:
As I said before (don't remember if it was this thread or another) but I don't understand how people can say Teddy playing a soft schedule means nothing, but Mariota playing in the offense his coach makes him run means a ton. In both cases there are plenty of opportunities to evaluate pro tools aside from scheme and competition. Both excel.
No one is saying we want Mariota ahead of Teddy, but if by some awful luck we wind up picking not first and Teddy is gone then Mariota is a very good consolation prize.

He had a similar play last year as well against Oregon St where he took off right up the middle untouched. As for the argument for Gabbert, I believe he would have been an effective QB at Oregon absolutely. Guys like Dixon, Thomas and Masoli all put up great numbers and were perennially competitive and Gabbert is better than all 3 of them.
