I don't know if he has the capability to run an NFL-caliber offense or not, but don't make light of that Oregon system that he's playing in. Yes, they put a lot of talent out on the field, and it's probably more than most anyone else, but that Offense' playbook is no joke. In Kelly's last season, he supposedly had over 700 plays, and Mariota started in it as a RS Freshman. I'm fairly certain that it was curtailed and tailored so that he wouldn't get lost in it, but the player has shown the ability to pick up a rather complex system and operate it at a very high level.
He's a very intriguing player.
The question now is, when was the last time an "athletic qb" won the superbowl. Rodgers is not in Mariota/RG3/Kap etc level of athleticism

Yep, with the exception being if you were an NFL team that is running a similar offense, ala Chip Kelly in Philly. Or have a Jim Harbaugh level coach with a history of QB development on the resume...

Mariota is a baller, no doubt. And you can say "this isn't 2004 anymore" all you want, but the top QBs are still pocket passer like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees. I like Marcus Mariota, even though I haven't seen much from him, but I do know that his style of play is extremely concerning for me. RGIII has two major knee injuries and Michael Vick hasn't finished a full season in years. Colin Kap has regressed and Tebow was never good. Spread QBs and running QBs concern me for those reasons: Injuries and NFL defense speed.

Spread qbs also don't have the passing discipline that is required to take on NFL secondaries on a weekly basis.

Exactly. If we had Chip Kelly or Harbaugh/ Belichick here as our head coach, it would be one thing. But we don't. Mariota is not a good fit here. Period.
I don't think anyone is saying take Mariota over Teddy, but if somehow the Jags get a couple wins and wind up picking 2 or 3 and Teddy is off the board then Mariota would be a perfectly fine fallback option. He is a great prospect too. Much like you can't knock Teddy for playing the schedule he does I can't really knock Mariota for playing in the system his coach tells him to. For both players you can still scout traits and Mariota's traits are very good as well.
Let's just say that Mariota is much closer to Teddy as a prospect than he is to Hundley, Boyd, Mettenberger, or Manziel. It's a clear top tier of two this year.
Without a doubt we should get Teddy. I see a lot of Dan Lefevour in him. Could be a real superstar in the NFL
When I watch the video posted in the thread I see a lot of what looks to be half field reads, with a high/low option. And if those aren't open he takes off. I also see some spotty accuracy and some footwork issues.
Yes, I realize it's one video for those that like to point that out. I'm not trying to make bold proclamations about his pro potential, just discussing what my very amateur eyes see in the video posted.
He kinda reminds me of Cam Newton as a passer.

I think we'll see a rotation of QBs who may be expected to challenge Bridgewater but one thing will always remain the same: that quarterback will always be talked about as a threat to Teddy, while Teddy's name will never fall out of the conversation.

Unless the Jags are getting a new OC which is from Oregon or from that offensive mold, then it would be stupid for the Jags to take Mariota. Its simply not a good fit here.

He is mobile and throws well on the run. Bradley has said that he wants a mobile QB.

Which is why Bradley should stick to what he knows - defense.
Mobility is nice, a luxury for a QB, but I'd put it lower on the list of importance behind accuracy, pocket presence, understanding of defenses (football IQ) and mechanics / footwork....

Let put it this way, he has a higher floor. All you are doing is comparing physical talents instead of looking at how they play and styles on the field. Murray is a more polished qb than mariota.
