Trump was a powerful guy, who had access to the halls of power, before he decided to run for elective office.
When your dad is that kind of guy, you can get some questionable, shady, but very lucrative gigs.
Chelsea Clinton became a hedge fund manager right out of college.

And so did the Trump kids, even if their business card still said "Trump organization," this is the kind of business that they were getting into.
