I think you have a double standard when you criticize Kamala Harris for her supposed ignorance, but at the same time, you support the most ignorant person to ever hold the Presidency, Donald Trump.

I supported Trump because he exposed the rot and nepotism that exists between politics and media. A relationship you're more than willing to accept if it prevents having to make a difficult stance for any conservative views you claim to hold. If Trump, or anyone in his administration, were to respond with the senseless cackle and meaningless and meandering words Harris pukes out, the media would be all over it, and you would be renewing your subscription to the NYT to get more of it.

I think I'm getting old, because I have no energy for arguing.

Why is this ineptness?  The interviewer asked the Polish rep if he asked the US to take in refugees so Kamala looked at him for his response.  That response should come before the US response as to whether we will take in refugees.

Oh wait, now we are judging the way somebody laughs?  quite interesting.

The interviewer did ask her a direct question then asked the man a question. She had no answer. He did.

What bothered me was she was not paying attention. The Polish guy was making eye contact and actively listening to the reporter while Harris looked like she lost something in her paperwork. There is no way she could have heard and understood what the reporter was asking while being so distracted. It was a long and multi part question. She is supposed to know what's going on, or at least look like she's interested in being there. Neither seemed to be the case.

Me either and I sincerely apologize for being so snippy. It was unwarranted.

LOL any journalist can expose things.  The President is supposed to do a lot more than just expose stuff.

In 2015 the MSM had made peace with both establishment Republicans and establishment Democrats.  They knew what to expect from both groups and how to frame stories about them.  In fact there had been a stasis dating back to 1994 when national ideology became to dominant paradigm instead of regional rivalries.

Trump was just so different from any establishment Republican that no one really knew how to frame any story about him at first.  But they caught on, and there wasn't much to expose anymore.  National ideology is now just a Democrat vs Democrat issue, between a progressive ideology and a more conservative but mostly liberal one.  On the Republican side, it's more a battle of personalities.  There's literally no platform anymore, just personalities.  The media has adjusted to this new reality and covers it as best as anyone can.

None of which is to say you were wrong for supporting Trump. Just saying, your stated reason is pretty trivial.
Journalism is supposed to be about the truth. Not half truths, biased truths, ratings truths, or sensational truths. If you're being honest and objective you don't have to worry about how a situation or a person looks. You do your job with integrity and let the chips fall where they will. It's really that simple.

There is a reason Brokaw and the CBS guy were ousted from their high profile jobs. Lies always come come out and no one in the media is untouchable because the competition is always waiting for the big story that will make them big money.

You're absolutely right.
The other half of the story is that it's human nature to get comfortable in your job and put blinders on, such that the longer you're in the job, the more you might struggle to deal with the unusual.

Most tell half truths because of bias, ratings, sensationalism, click bait, etc., and has nothing to do with being comfortable at their job. It's about money.
They’re doing it wrong. Wade across the Rio Grande and declare themselves persecuted left-handed, gender fluid, racial minorities. Not only will they be granted asylum, but also nominated for a cabinet position in the Biden administration.

Yep. It's tragic.
Iran is now up to no good. Air Force in the air at least. Looking at Tehran now I believe.

At what point does the situation in Mariupol become a humanitarian crisis that the UN can't ignore? Isn't that their wheelhouse?

I may be thinking of a different agency. I know the UNHCR deals with refugee/humanitarian issues but the residents of Mariupol are not technically refugees.

It's tough to see and hear about what those folks are going through and no one is able to get aid to them or get them out. Humanitarian cease fires by the Russian troops were supposed to happen so people could get out or be given food, water and medicine but it didn't happen.

They can't do anything because it's an issue on both sides and starts WW3.

Kharkov and Mariupol are going to fall into Russian control soon and that should stop the bombing there. The main issue is the UN & NATO have provided weapons to the Azov battalion nazis. There is no question about what they are, they openly admit it. They have been bombing Donbass for 8 years and those same groups have done nothing about it. Now Azov is in control of a lot of the military. They are not good people.

Russia is stepping it up on their side and bringing in their regulars. Chechen military is involved now. Russia is bombing more and no longer being nice about it. They are not going to willingly lose some decades old equipment, this is the real fighting starting and it is getting ugly quickly.

This wouldn't have been happening if it wasn't for the Azov. The Ukrainian national guard have fired on Azov units per reports, and it's not just Russian pr sources reporting it. Russian sources are showing videos of Azov hiding on and in civilian buildings waiting to fire on Russian troops. This is stuff they have done before and is being reported by more neutral places but I doubt you see it in the MSM. I don't know how truthful it is, but seems like it may be accurate somewhat, there were reports of the Azov keeping the people in the cities while the ceasefire was happening. There may have been attacks on the routes but both sides blamed each other.

The hospital that was potentially bombed had a lot of holes in the story like a piece of Swiss cheese. Russia claims they reported it 2 times that Azov moved in there and kicked everyone out that was still there after the hospital shutdown earlier. Then their is a professional photographer and an Instagram personality there for pictures. Some windows closest to the hole not broken or a wall not damaged, etc. Lots of questions on that one.

It comes down to this, Russia wants Azov destroyed, anyone involved with them dead, and Ukraine as a buffer zone. Putin is not going to stop and he will do whatever he needs to so they are destroyed. Short of WW3, it's going to happen. Ukraine needs to decide if they are willing to fight and die for Azov or agree to the terms. Unfortunately the people are stuck in the middle and it doesn't seem like either side cares now. This is quickly turning into a real war and unfortunately the people didn't get out so they are going to end up dying.

This is brilliant, really. What better way to get millions of ignorant young people to mindlessly parrot, and vote, for your policies and people?

I read something briefly a few weeks back about that military group and their Nazi connection. I just read another piece about them and they sound like a nationalist group for sure. I am never for any group that is extremist for any reason but especially for a nation's military force. Talk about trouble we've seen before. In one of the articles I read it mentioned this short documentary released in 2017 that shows a different side to what is happening now. I have yet to watch it but skimming the comments makes me think it shows a very different picture of who/what Russia is really fighting. It's only about 14 minutes long but I have somewhere to be so will have to share and run but will watch it later today and share any thoughts I might have. I read about the Hitler Youth years ago and how they were recruited and this outfit sounds a great deal like the one back then and that is not a good thing.

Nothing about war is black and white- there is always a grey area. Whether it be from the governments in play, the militaries/militias who are doing the actual fighting, or the people caught in the middle, there is always a different perspective and unless we are personally living it we really don't know what is really going on or who is actually involved. There are too many people in power who have agendas that prevent us as foreigners from seeing the honest big picture. While I feel for and support the people of Ukraine who are caught up in this mess I am not so sure about the politics involved. Too many rabbit holes to get lost in to understand it all.

Link to the short documentary.

Again, I haven't watched this yet but I wanted to share it now so I wouldn't forget.

The youth camps are real and are creating future nazis.

Looks like the reddit weekend warriors and for free mercenaries got destroyed by Russia in the last few days. One of the bases on the west side of Ukraine got destroyed from the air. Reddit users were "training" there, posting selfies, etc and Russia blew it up. Some stories from more experienced people show that they had no clue what it was like to fight an actual enemy and not some ragtag group of people with some weapons. The US, British, etc haven't been on the other side of fighting where they don't have air support and are the ones with a technological and gear disadvantage.

Saw a video and some other stuff about Ukraine trying to force them to sign indefinite contracts, sending them to the front to die with no gear, and then threatening to shoot them when they refused. One guy claims they were ripping up passports and sending them back.

Some of that is propaganda but most of these people that are still alive are finding out that they have been lied too by MSM and are lucky to be alive as a lot were killed.
