He never said NATO owed the US money. He just said the USA has footed the bill for [BLEEP] decades and no one else gave a [BLEEP]. Which is true.

Statements of fact don't begin with "I don't think" or "I think".
Statements beginning with those words are clearly opinions.

But here are Trump's actual words in 2018, addressing leaders of other NATO countries at a meeting in Europe. "Frankly, many countries owe us a tremendous amount of money for many years back, where they're delinquent, as far as I'm concerned...". I'm cutting the quote of early, but the verb "owe" is used one more time.  So this opinion of mine is based in fact.

They owe us a [BLEEP] ton of money for the Marshall Plan, not that we'd ever try to collect. They owe us a lot for what we've paid for over the last 70 years, again, not that we'd try to collect. We'd be happy if they just foot the bill for their own defense.

LOL.  The far left democrats like Mikesez like to pull quotes and take them out of context.

Trump wasn't a master of speaking by any means, but he always told the truth.

Oh please, Spock.  Please expand the quote and give us more context.  It would be illogical not to.

Trump was trying to collect something! He said "owe" twice and he called them delinquents. The Marshall Plan was not a loan, and NATO isn't a promise for anyone to pay any money to anyone else either.  So what did Trump mean?

A reminder that those leeches owe us their very exitance, so get off their [BLEEP] and do some of this hard work of maintaining order. Christ, you try so hard to be the smartest guy in the room yet all you ever say is wordy nonsense.
That's because he pulls his information from people who make their living with wordy nonsense.

He sounds like Elizabeth "Theranos" Holmes when he does that. Have you ever listened to her answer questions? Word salad bonanza.

There it is.  You can't admit defeat on the topic, so you go for the personal attack.
Predictable.

You just believe them.
You believe Trump didn't demand payment from NATO allies to the United States.  That's a falsehood, which I have shown, right from the horse's mouth, and you choose to ignore this evidence because it's devastating to your case.
Then you can go on living in a world where everything you believe is right and anyone who disagrees is wrong.  Easier that way.

Another personal attack.  "Marvel at my high vocabulary! I found a word which says your argument is totally accurate but people don't like the argument and don't like you!"

My argument is accurate.  Anyone who disagrees is wrong.  But it's OK to be wrong.

But you're a jerk.  It's not OK to be a jerk.  Especially when you're a mod.

The bigger question: Are Elizabeth Holmes and Romy White (from Romy and Michele's High School Reunion) the same person? Listen to the voice. And, they did both misrepresent themselves and what they did (Post-It's for Romy)

No, I'm saying that your argument focuses on your one single interpretation of the word "owe" and you exclude the possibility that a person uses the word to mean something else. In this case, to you, the word "owe" only means "money they should pay us back" whereas what they actually "owe" us is a bit of loyalty and cooperation in serving their interests into the future. But you're so impressed by what you think is the point that you can't help but only see it your way. This isn't a new problem with you, I've been telling you this for years and you just write out another 1,000 essay on why you're right instead of just accepting that you're being foolish. It's why I quit trying to reason with you, because you are patently unreasonable the vast majority of the time.

You are totally right that more things than money can be owed.
But Trump didn't say loyalty was owed.
He did not say gratitude was owed.
Trump specifically said that a tremendous amount of money was owed, from them to us.

Not sure why this is such a big deal. He came from the business world. I would expect that sort of rhetoric. And whats wrong with applying some sound business principles to government? There wouldnt be such a huge tax burden if they were run more like a business.

It's not a big deal.  We have oodles of professional diplomats who all explained that we just wanted the European countries to buy more equipment and train more soldiers for their own militaries.

I just thought it was funny how Trump looked particularly uninformed and out of touch in this instance, and instead of sharing a laugh with me, three or four posters went and jumped on my throat.
