Uhh in Garland Texas it wasn't one guy with a pistol.  It was four members of the SWAT Team.  Unless we're thinking of different incidents in Garland Texas.

Quote:Speak for yourself, Chinook.

Well thats just plain helicopterist.
Quote:Lol what in the world are you talking about? Omar pledged his allegiance to ISIS. His Dad said on one of his shows “Our brothers in Waziristan, our warrior brothers in Taliban movement and national Afghan Taliban are rising up." I'm simply stated I wouldn't believe anything his father has to say. If you want to believe someone who says our warrior brothers in the Taliban movement as a trust worthy figure than by all means.

You have taken that statement and turned it into me believing preconceived notions... I'm stating things that are fact. The war is on terrorist who use Islam as an excuse to kill. What is ridiculous is your post and preconcieved view point on beliefs I don't have. May want to take a dose of your own medicine and stop being a hypocrite. You're are part of the political problem.

Come on, jt, I even have a link from the wall street journal that states the fathers tv show, while way out there can not directly link him to being a pro Taliban sympathizer. Context, my friend, it's key. His quote you just provided is more likely a tribal statement, not one of terrorist leanings...

You should read that article I linked. It's very eye opening, and its a right wing paper, I'm providing as much objectivity as I can.
Quote:I don't think he was saying you are childish...I think he was referring to the shooter although "childish" isn't the word I would have used. "Weak" would be infinitely more appropriate. There are a great many LGBT Muslims raised under similar sets of circumstances that don't go about "attempting to reconcile" crises of faith by shooting up clubs. This creature was both sick and weak.

You don't know JJ. Dude literally has never posted a worthwhile read. He was talking about my comments for the record.

still thwarted the attack. had he not been there, more casualties would have resulted. proving my point. boom

this is america though. you have a right to be unarmed and defenseless and rely soley on police to get to the location in three hours

Palm, meet face...

Interesting isn't it.  How do you go from initial reports that an off duty officer took them out, even garnering praise HLS to a swat team was responsible.  Maybe Paul Craig Roberts isn't that far off?

To be fair, JJ has more worth reading in a single post than you do in all your posts combined, so...

It's all a matter of perspective, JW

the goal should be to train and arm yourself close to the level of a police officer.  but to you guys the goal is to be completely dependent on government for protection. very weak approach.

The cognitive dissonance this must create for the Democrats...

I depend I myself. But I get your rhetoric, I disagree with it, but I get it.

Police are there to take criminal reports, rarely are the in the right place at the right time to actually stop a crime.

But I choose not to live in fear to the point that I'm arming myself like a cop would.

It's worked out well for me. Though I have had my car broken into, owning a gun would not have fixed the fact that I was asleep when it happened...

Oh and in high school we has a break in at my house. Again, a gun would not have helped because nobody was home during the burglary.

you are living in fear. fear of guns.

then you fear monger everybody into also being afraid of guns.

Most break ins happen when you're not at home.  I mean you'd have to be a pretty dumb criminal to break into someone's house while they're home.  (You'd have to be a pretty dumb criminal to break into my home at all.  We have two pitbull terriers.  If you ignore the 'Beware of Dog' sign on our fence, you should win a Darwin Award.  Oddly enough pitbulls are illegal in some places.  Like Texas)

Where have I ever said anything that would make you think I live in fear of anything, much less guns?
Quote:How dark do you think these places are? I'm sure some clubs fit your descriptions, but a lot of them (and theaters) are plenty bright enough to clearly identify the threat. I bring mine every where I go and haven't been in a situation where I couldn't use it properly. Even if it means waiting a few moments and assessing the situation.

Are you saying no one could have seen a lone gunman shooting a rifle in the club and kill him?

A nightclub at closing time, with music so loud some who were there at first thought gun shots were part of the music. Strobes, disco lights, dancing people drinking alcohol.

Sure, you're trained and qualified to make the split second decision to not only shoot a gunman, but only shoot him. Do you trust the process and training required to own and carry a concealed - heck, open carry - weapon enough to be in favor of any number of patrons to be there armed?
