Problem with McDaniels is, how long will we be waiting?

Probably well into February. That's a long time to wait for a guy who isn't far and away the superior candidate.

If we are not going the Coughlin route, Id seriously start leaning towards Mike Smith. Guy has a ton of experience, is a good coach and knows how to win.

I'm ok with that. My only concern is having another defensive coach in charge, but Smith has a history of successful offenses in his tenure. Would depend on the OC hire really.
Quote:Why? He wasn't the DC here. He might be the best DC ever by the end of his career, but he's also the worst HC in history.

Because it will give him something to whine about.

Just a couple years ago Quinn was tentatively hired by ATL while in playoffs and they put together his staff.

Dynamite drop in Monty.

I agree, I'd really rather have an offensive coach for HC this time around.  I was leaning towards Marrone, until I read this article:  http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/footba...-1.2066844

Lol OK. Or he's a businessman who knows to get input from those who have done it before

Yes, but I don't recall if Quinn was the choice going into the hiring season or if he had competition. I think McDaniels is one of several and I don't know if the interview this weekend will be sufficient for the decision.

Some people have no idea how life works.

Not really even worried about that. So he didn't sell a certain owner on the coaching job and there's some people that dislike him? Okay. Well, NO apparently want him as the heir to Payton after being there as the OC several years ago and doing a great job. A SB winning coach (Good guess would be Payton or Coughlin who just interviewed) said we should hire him as our HC.

I'd imagine he had competition. I don't know of too many organizations that go into it thinking no one has a chance but one candidate. There's interviews that occur.
Quote:Denver's no letting him walk.

Denver doesn't have a choice. His contract is up.

I know.  But you don't let the guy who gave you a great defense walk.  And now with Kubiak gone, it's even more important to re-sign him
@ryanoholloran Caldwell talking to players now. I asked to attend. He said no.
@ryanoholloran Meeting lasted 2 min, 50 sec
Mike Smith coming in for an interview.

We're up to Goodwin, Shanny, McDaniels, and Smith so far I believe. Heard we are requesting to interview Anthony Lynn too.

Hope we don't fixate on McDaniels or Shanahan only for them to let us down and not come here/go somewhere else after the playoffs are over.
Mike Smith will get an interview soon also this

"The Jaguars have already interviewed former head coach Tom Coughlin, and lined up interviews with Falcons offensive coordiantor Kyle Shanahan, Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin, and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as well. Interim coach Doug Marrone is expected to be a candidate for the job as well."
