Quote:It's looking like everything is pointing to Shanahan. He is the odds on favorite per Bovada, with a 66% likelihood to get the job, and listening to 1010, several of the guys have said the job is Shanahan's per sources inside the building. It's looking like the way things are going to workout is:
San Diego -> Mike Smith
Denver -> Vance Joseph
Buffalo -> Anthony Lynn
Rams -> Josh McDaniels
Niner -> ?
Jax -> Kyle Shanahan
O'Halloran mentioned Raheem Morris as a likely DC for Shanahan.
Shanahan has had good offenses everywhere he's been and has orchestrated the best seasons of Matt Ryan, Josh McCown, Johnny Manziel, and RGIII's careers. It really comes down to who he hires as his staff.
If this is the case, then the differences between John Elway and Mike Shanahan very likely would be the difference why Kyle Shanahan doesn't end up in Denver.

Quote: Until late last week, I thought Tom Coughln was the most likely next Jaguars HC. I wouldn't rule out the possibility but at least for now, it doesn't seem as likely as it did 8 days ago. There might be working issues between TC and Dave Caldwell that will prevent the two sides to come together.Theres been no facts that they have moved on from Tom. Only speculation.

Agreed.
But if they have moved on, then it's probably because Dave Caldwell and Tom Coughlin have differences that would make it difficult for the Jaguars organization to function effectively enough.

Quote: Agreed.I have a gut vibe tom will end up over dave. Nothing signifies to me otherwise. A secret meeting? A short end of year speech. Something big is in the works. many vacancies and tom is not interviewing elsewhere. And no info being leaked. It will be special.

Quote: Agreed.Dave Caldwell is on a very short leash. I started a threat about this about whether he should be fired or not. It overwhelmingly was in favor of him staying. However, this guy is one bad spell away from getting thrown to the curb. If this team sucks next year, hes gone. Why not take a chance with an experienced coach like Tom? Who can also groom a coordinator while hes here. I dont see Kyle Shanahan or McDaniels really wanting this job because theres no stability. GM could be fired and they could go with him unless they seriously turn this team around in a season. Obviously Denver is a more attractive landing spot which is why Shanahan might look their first and McDaniels already screwed up 1 head coaching gig, you dont get too many second chances at it.

I think Tom Coughlin or Mike Smith make the most sense. Two veteran coaches with tons of experience who can easily shape the team the way they want and hopefully, get this thing turned around in the right direction. Which is what the Jaguars need, we all want a Super Bowl, but lets focus on competing in the NFL first. Lets start competing for the division and trying to push for a playoff spot before we try and look for the homerun.

Otherwise wouldn't he be interviewing in Denver by now?

There's been no facts about anything. It's all speculation for every team/candidate right now.

I'm not a big Raheem fan.

If Shanahan doesn't land in Denver then he is coming here from what I can gather. There has really been nothing concrete connecting Smith to us other than Clayton saying he thinks he lands here which is just him connecting dots like I did months ago. All concrete evidence and not just connective coincidences points to Shanahan being our next HC.

I just hope it's an offensive guy.

Peter Schrager also said Mike Smith to JAX most likely I think. Not just Clayton. So has Mike Kaye and Pete Prisco.

Coughlin isn't going to be the next head coach here because they probably want a fresh face and new ideas and possibilities than going conservative with an old fogy. Like, Coughlin is the move you make if you just want to play it safe and hope for respectability over the next 2-3 years. Shanahan is a move you make if you're hoping for the next rising NFL head coach star. I'd commend Caldwell for taking a chance on Shanahan and not being conservative and going with Coughlin.

I really don't think any of them are together man...especially Schrager.

At this point, after thinking over it more, I'd rather go for Shanahan than Smith.
