Quote:I don't know how Vrabel is as a coach. But, loved him as a player.
I'm on the fence about his lack of experience. I'd prefer a DC with more experience as I believe this D (talent in place) is very close to being a perennial contender for the top ranking.
Quote:I'm betting in time, Vrabel could become an excellent coach.
He played for two of the best coaches in Cowher and Belichick.
He did not have overwhelming talent, and to have lasted as long as he did under Belichick, he had to be smart.
Yeah, I'm a sucker for a player who plays with brains and heart!
Quote:It's one thing for a poster to post on this board and clearly have zero clue about Wade Phillips' career in the NFL.
(Especially since he did it so well for three years with a division rival!!)
It's an additional thing for that same person to be unable to interpret a simple chart that shows exactly how good his defenses have been.
Those two things add up to a whole lot of fail.
Ouch!

Interesting that on NFLN, Mike Nolan calls Josh McDaniels a brilliant football mind who had a "people issue." Nolan was McD's DC in Denver.

He was one of the youngest HCs in the history of the league. Of course he's going to have people issues when he's trying to coach guys older than him.

Or maybe he's just a feminine hygiene product?

exactly, that was 7 years ago and he has been under BB. Im sure he has matured since or i doubt BB would still have him on the staff

A coach HAS to be able to deal effectively with people.
That is an absolute must.
Still like McDaniels as a candidate. Need a coach to help the offense. I think he can do that.
No personnel control, im good.

Well, considering everyone in NE, including Tom, absolutely love him and thinks hes the best offensive mind out there...it doesnt seem like he has a problem communicating.

They loved him his first go around there too.

Yeah, and whose to say things wouldnt have went different if you didnt give a 32 year old first time HC total control of an org.
Like seriously, there's no way that will ever work out.
If youre a people person while being a GM. Good luck. Having great relationships with everyone and being happy go lucky is going to be tough when you make the decisions of whose getting cut or traded...which he also had to working about since he had total control.

He could be that too but he could also have grown up a lot since then.

That does seem ludicrous when you put it that way. The guy was younger than a lot of the guys they were coaching/drafting/letting go.
