Quote:Dave's job isn't on the line.
It should be. With all the consulting help Khan has given him to make the right choice this time, anything less than an ace selection for HC and he should be gone.
To clear up the supposed "committee" choice, Khan has put him solely in charge of the final decision this time. That certainly means Khan has high expectations in Dave and is putting the heat/pressure to win squarely on his shoulders.
Quote:Because Bortles is "his guy" and it's possible he'll double down on the bet, risking his own employment on the back of Bortles.
Dave said "no one is safe" including himself.
To me that's just talk until we see what he actually does about QB competition in the offseason.
That's starting to be his legacy... talk. Talking in hindsight trying to distance himself from the Bradley choice, spinning about how "we" are all accountable when only a few pay for the sins. Talking about how he's only been associated with winners and that's what he wants here but has failed to so far. It's been a lot of talk and not much to show for it.
If he makes the right choice and has a turnaround, then he's successfully talked his way out of responsibility for the Gus years. If not, then he's just as responsible and we'll see if his smooth talking can survive anything less than a quick turnaround next season.
There is absolutely no way. Anyone with half of a brain. Would gamble on a qb who may require surgery. As his only option. Too many uncertainties to bet it all on Blake.

I agree.
So it will be interesting to see what he does (or does not) do with the QB position.
Yet another reason eyes should be on Dave. Coaching won't be a scapegoat again.

If he does nothing. And Blake does not improve or recover. Then I will be on board to let go of Dave.
Quote:Shanahan/McDaniels is gonna stay with their team instead of becoming a HC this year
Thats kinda Shanahans MO. Seems like every year he's a top candidate yet never becomes a head coach.
Quote:you would give one of your employees the power to pick his own boss? doesnt seem like a good idea.
In this case i think so. If Dave gets fired it would make a much smoother transition if the coach we hire doesnt get fired. Continuous turnover like that does too much damage. And if priority number one is still Blake, having him have to go through another change at offense can really only set him back. A one year rental coach just doesnt work for anyone really. Unless the next coach is a total wash it would make sense to do everything to keep him on board for continuity.
And its not like he gets to pick any old scrub, you would still interview the candidates the same way you would any GM.
Nothing will be. Until any of the HC spots have been filled. The closest one we have is the Bills. And that still isn't final.
Quote:Not sure the choices are that great outside of the Broncos job. Both have great situations to fall back on and go again next year.
No NFL coaching opening is gonna be great, which is why the job is open, only if some coach just retired, like the Broncos situation, those guys want to be HC's they are gonna take whats out there.

Please, we don't need you to tell us anything.
Just like your boy Lyin' Donald.

Busy day today for Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, who is interviewing for HC jobs with Jaguars, Rams and 49ers.
When the first coach gets hired it will be a domino effect
More and more likely its Marrone.
Quote:When the first coach gets hired it will be a domino effect
True.
I believe teams are waiting for one or two more candidates to become available for interviews before making a final decision. That could be someone like Haley, Austin, Cooter, or BOB.

Based on?
Not sure if you noticed but nobody knows nothing right now in regards to the jags situation.
Quote:you could have just posted Oesers tweets instead of pretending this is your own criticism
It's not from a fake Twitter account so he won't post it.
I'm going to go ahead and guess Shanahan gets the gig. Marrone will be a close 2nd
Quote:More and more likely its Marrone.
It depends on Vance Joseph. If Miami is knocked out of the playoffs this week and Denver hires Joseph, Shanahan is the coach here.

Literally nothing has happened today. No one has been hired at all for anyone. So how has it become more likely?
