Quote:This is honestly the thing that worries me the most. If this is true, obviously.

If Blackmon's been telling the team he's been getting help and sorting his life out in Oklahoma, and he's just randomly in Jacksonville without telling anyone, what does that say about the line of communication between the team and Blackmon?

Obviously players are allowed to go and do whatever they want, so long as its legal. But given the fact that he's currently suspended indefinitely, and its his second suspension, one would imagine the guy would make more of an effort to work with the team to get everything sorted out. Showing up in the town where your employer's located, when they expect you to be in a completely different area, and not telling them just smells fishy to me. Obviously I'll support Blackmon because he's a Jag and I'm not going to advocate cutting him or anything.

But for someone under a microscope as large as the one Blackmon is, getting into an accident at 3:30 AM when the team expects you to be in a completely different state just doesn't seem like a good look.

I don't think the team has any expectation at all of where he is. He has been in Jacksonville for a while. He was at the Jacksonville Sharks game last week. He's been working out here.

Quote:Nobody knows why he was out at 3:30 am. If you're going to assume you might as well assume he paid off the cops to not arrest him for alcohol. Geez......................

Regards..................the Chiefjag

I totally agree. Maybe he went to a midnight movie and then went and ate after. I don't do any drugs or drinking but I enjoy midnight movies. I'm glad to here he wasn't drinking and I'm looking forward to Blackmon hopefully playing for Jags again. United We Stand!
Yeah, if I remember right, the front office guys are allowed no contact with him.

I would love nothing more than for Blackmon to be reinstated, keep his nose clean and become the star receiver he should be. I just have little reason to believe it will happen. Last offseason, he was the focal point of the team's marketing efforts. He was the centerpiece of the Nike jersey unveil. He was going to be the face of the franchise. And then he got a 4 game suspension. The team stuck by him. He was vocal in camp, came back from his suspension and played like an absolute stud. Games 5-8, he might have been the best receiver in the NFL. And then he spit in the face of the team and got busted again. I have little faith he's going to play here again.

I can just see Dave Caldwell drinking his coffee and reading the newspaper. He flips to a page and sees a headline:

"Justin Blackmon Involved In Accident At 3:30 AM"

His brow furrows. He reads on:

"Alcohol and drugs are not thought to have been involved"

Meh! he says with a shoulder shrug. He flips to Dear Abby and sips his coffee.

WHen Blackmon is Dave Caldwell's age, I doubt he'll be doing the same things that he's doing now, as well....
Quote:Wow, as I said before, some people here won't be satisfied until this man is on another team having his hall of fame career....smh...

Look at the jumping to conclusions in this thread, and it was totally unfounded.

Maybe instead of ultra quick judging, you should be happy that he didn't get hurt and that he's fine.

There was no alcohol or drugs involved (allegedly), so I see it as nothing more than some back luck. Or can't a tire blowout happen to anyone?...

I'm sorry...what? He was welcomed with open arms by the organization and fanbase when he was drafted. Then he got a DUI. Welcomed back. And then a 4 game suspension. Welcomed back again. And then what? Another suspension. What would satisfy us is if he kept himself out of trouble and on the field.

The guy's a top 5 draft pick who is currently suspended indefinitely and the team doesn't care where he is or what he's doing? I don't know, I'd imagine the team would want some idea as to what's happening with their investment. Maybe I'm wrong, but, I wouldn't exactly be happy with the implications of that.

Since his last suspension he's been doing just that.

A tire blowout isn't "getting into trouble".

As an above post said....I'm not sure the team is allowed any "official" contact with him, hence Caldwell's aloofness when asked about Blackmon.

When O'Halloran said #Jaguars, I believe he meant the players anyway

But we have little reason to suspect he will continue to stay out of trouble.

I feel like you are trying to make the fans the bad guy here instead of the guy with multiple DUI's and 2 NFL suspensions in a two year career.
"Car accident" can mean alot of things...

I'm reading he had a flat tire, and people are all over him.  You are going to get on the guy for blowing a tire? Holy crap settle down.

I was in a fender bender and given "careless driving" ticket even though it wasnt my fault.

Could be the case. I thought they were allowed contact, but I might be mixing up the rules for Blackmon's suspensions (him practicing and playing during the pre-season when already suspended vs. the more severe indefinite suspension).

Could also be the case. O'Halloran should be less vague. <_<

Yep, its nuts.

Take note of the biggest perpetrators...
The condemning crowd are hilarious, from making the college incident a legit DUI to reading into the team not knowing he was in Jax (they can't contact him, so I guess he should have a GPS devise for Caldwell to monitor) to bemoaning him being out at 330 for ANY reason (you know, the kid with no current obligation with a job that is in the offseason)....

Why the ACTUAL DESIRE to condemn? Cut him?

Sickening, and another example of not only guilty before proven so, but let's punish before we know a smidgen of the facts.
The fact that it was 330 am and he wasn't drunk tells me he is doing things better...well not perfect, but better

Definitely a glass half full way of looking at it.

This morning's incident doesn't really change anything though.

I think the team is proceeding with the idea that he does not exist. Would not shock me to see them sign a veteran receiver and draft another one early.

Yup, thats how I see it too. Maybe thats just crazy talk.

Hey, call me encouraged. No booze or ganja. That is a good thing.
