The last few pages on this thread show that TMD and Predator probably do not watch much college football. And that's ok. Not everybody does. But then they try to come on here and act like they've seen these guys plays ton of games when it is obvious that they have not.

LOL, citing all the pouting over my not jumping on board the Watkins bus, I'd dispute that.
We get the act.
We are Jaguars fan that want what is best for the Jaguars.
You are some dude with a pretend internet persona that wants some sort of gratification.
Quote:Again, this shows that you haven't watched him play much. His YAC ability is one of the best I've ever seen. And others agree apparently. He isn't mocked in the top 5 of every draft for no reason.
Blackmon has some of the best YAC moves and plays that I have ever seen. He just does them after deeper routes which is a big reason why he was a much more proficient scorer than Watkins.
Watkins is an excellent YAC guy but he won't be able to do than in the NFL so close to the line of scrimmage.
The fact that he didn't run many intermediate routes could just be the scheme or it could be due to the fact that the coaches knew he wasn't that good at those routes. He is a superior athlete.
Just give him the ball ASAP and let him make plays on the inferior college players he faces. He won't have that type of advantage at the next level. He may have a hard time adjusting. I just don't see him at #3.

Good for Blackmon. He doesn't play.
Your argument here would make sense if the times they did ask him to go deep, he struggled. He didn't. He excelled.

Sorry, but "special" players almost jump right off the screen when you watch them. I don't get that feeling watching Watkins. Very good player yes, "special NFL talent"? I don't see it.

Then you were either drunk or asleep.

An average sized, short pass/ screen demon that lacks elite speed is not "best" for the Jags at 3 overall, especially in a deep WR draft.
the ol dog and pony show. Smarter than everyone, can't even get a job at "frito lay." Why aren't you at least a low level scout for one of these NFL teams, boitano?
Quote: that lacks elite speed
That's all I need to see to know you've never watched him play.

The players you've said jump off the screen to you in the last few years are either career backups...or out if the league

You 2 are probably going to be dumbfounded as to "why isn't Watkins a star" in the NFL next year & beyond...
Watkins will be no better than a player like Torrey Smith.
He's not Megatron, he's not AJ Green, he's not going to take over games like Fitzgerald has in the past.....he's simply not going to be on that level.

It is so obvious you've never watched a Clemson game.

TMD watches film of every game. His mom sets the VCR for him.

Add to that Jarrett "Next Keenan McCardell" Dillard. And Ryan Mallet

TMD = Gene Smith
Gene thought he was the smartest guy in the room too.
Quote:63% of the time. Exaggerate much? The screen game is utilized in the NFL whether you know it or not. Nobody is suggesting it be used more than any other play. But its good to have a guy who can excel with it.
Sorry, 57% of the time he ran screens in college. Another 13% were passes under 5 yrds.
The worrisome part is that the rest of his routes have been so limited and are based more on catching the defense off guard than execution so we don't have a clear idea of how well he can actually line up and run precision routes that require multiple reads. I would hate to spend the #3 pick on a guy that may take years to do normal WR things due to his inexperience at having to do them.
He is an intriguing talent, but I think you have to make too many leaps of faith with his total receiving skill set to draft him at #3.

And did not understand value.
