It's all going as planned......we're getting younger.....faster (still need to get faster).......cap is looking good now......we're getting better. Khan didn't get where he is being stupid. This team isn't going anywhere soon. It's the only REAL pro sport in town. Back to my point.....if Dave likes Teddy and Clowney.....and they're both gone at #3......his next highest guy on his board could be Sammy. You might be able to trade down a few spots but there's no guarantee he'll still be there. At this point, it's not like we have a #1 receiver anymore. And with today's modern offense......you NEED one. Yes, it's a need.
If he's the best player on the board and they don't think Bortles or Bridgewater can be a franchise QB, then I'm absolutely fine with it.  If Blackmon decided to clean up his act and we had Watkins, Shorts, Blackmon, and Sanders, we'd easily compete for one of the best WR groups in the league.

Quote:Prisco said on twitter he can see the Jags taking Watkins at 3. Will we know if JB is playing by draft time?

I hope the Jags keep everyone guessing. The better for any trade down opportunities.

Patients?....you mean like dentist patients??
I love Sammy Watkins but I don't think he will be our pick at 3.
When does Mayock do his mocks?

We'll see how things go at the combine and free agency. A lot can change. If Sammy runs in the 4.3s then his value could rise. He is an ex- track star

yep, be a nightmare for defenses.......Blackmon is the big "if" in that equation

Mayock is one of the worst now that he's in the booth for Thursday Night Football. He doesn't start looking at college tape until way too late to have a real good feel on the draft class.

Hes bad right now but 2 weeks before the draft hes the best IMO.
Early in the year he's not active at all, but right before the draft and during the Senior Bowl he's the best.

Nah, that's not enough time to properly learn and be an expert on a draft class. He was the best back when he was draft full time, but now that he can't put in the work I just don't care for his opinion at all.

Maybe this year will be different since the draft is moved back, but since 2011 he's been big time subpar to me.
Mayock did say Gabbert was going to be a "very good quarterback" in this league on draft day 2011.

Who you think is better at the time of the draft? Cosell is I guess but he doesnt really put out a lot of stuff or appear on TV.

None of the major TV guys, but if forced to choose McShay has separated himself from the rest. He's the only one that puts in the work.

Josh Norris, Dane Brugler, Matt Miller, Ben Allbright (even though he's a word I can't say here), Andrew Parsons, Justis Mosqueda...those are a bunch of draftniks who work their butt off and are better than any mainstream guy right now. Matthew Fairburn and Eric Stoner are two good ones too who are also Jags fans.

Oh well yeah of course those guys but I thought we were discussing TV/national media dudes.

Nah, the best way to learn about the draft is to turn off the TV.
Just curious, but what makes you guys think Mayock doesn't spend enough time looking at prospects anymore?

Is he doing something in addition to the Thursday night broadcasting?

I don't see why he can't do both.

Yep. Credibility destroyed.

Ha, not really.....those guys seem to brother in law all of the picks. I mean, when was the last time you remember hearing them trashing a pick?? Not often, if ever.

He studies the NFL matchups he's going to have to comment on. He has said he doesn't even start to look at college prospects anymore until after the season and a few weeks off after that to recharge then fire up draft study.
