And in the end it's probably still going to be Todd Wash.

Mike Smith is looking for a defensive Coordinator position since not landing a HC gig this season. Its beyond belief on why Gus does not give him a call.

Atlanta's D was fierce when he was there...

Stop it. Just stop.
At this point, we are getting some bottom of the barrel guy, so it doesn't matter if he hires today or in 2 months.

I just do not understand why? Mike Smith has had success here.

My conspiracy theory is he doesn't want anybody who is perceived as competent enough to be an interim HC when he gets canned in week 6.

You're probably right. Mike Smith is available, Jim Schwartz is available both would be interim HC if he was canned mid-season.
I'm actually surprised with Mike Smith's connection to Caldwell and Jacksonville, that he hasn't been mentioned yet.

Exactly. And if Gus does not succeed could be promoted to HC by mid-season.

This is why no big names have been mentioned. Lovie, Mike Smith, Schwartz. Gus doesn't want anybody on the staff threatening an interim job if things go sour quickly.

Or maybe he just doesn't like them as DCs..for all Bradley flaws I don't think he would turn down a DC who he thinks could massively help the D just because it would put some added pressure on him.

So why would he hire a guy with previous HC experience as his asst HC?

If anyone takes over it would be the successful offensive coach on staff. Not the defensive failures...

I would think.

Marrone is likely gone. I'd be shocked if he is still on this staff come next year.

Maybe they showed interest and it wasn't mutual, I don't know, but the presence of a Lovie Smith, Jim Schwartz, or Mike Smith on the staff could create more pressure for Bradley if things go south.

Once again, not fact, just a theory.

Julio Jones was asked early in the season about why Atlanta's offense was so much better with the same cast. He said that it was because the Falcons had a coach who knew how to utilize the talent.

Marrone has been passed over in every interview he's been to this off season. Are there any openings left with his name being mentioned?
@RapSheet Mike Smith is expected to be the #Bucs new defensive coordinator, source said. Had several options, this was No. 1.

There goes Mike Smith. SMH.
Based on Gus Bradley being in what appears to be a make or break 2016 season,  how much influence do you believe Dave Caldwell has regarding who the next Jaguars Defensive Coordinator will be?
