Based on the article below, Mike Pettine ran a similar scheme to ours. Wonder if he is on the radar if Schwaryz goes to Philly.

Don't make the mistake of assuming we're after that scheme.

At this point, we're after a warm body.

@donbanks Eagles have a new Defensive coordinator in Jim Schwartz. Deal is not yet signed, but agreement in place.

Good job Gus.

Because he can force a candidate to sign with us. And how's about he might have more job security signing with a team who just signed a new head coach instead of team who's head coach is in the last year of his deal and is probably in "playoffs or bust" mode next year.

But yeah, darn you Gus! How dare you let someone decide to sign elsewhere /s

The great coaches use Jedi mind tricks....
The Browns never cease to amaze me.

Interviewing Ray Horton despite him being on the payroll from 2013!. Classic.

"Good job Gus" might be the new "Thanks Obama".

Actually signing with us would of gave him a better opportunity to become a HC again. Gus could be fired mid-season or he could turn this porus defense around and the league would take notice.

Ooooooooh. So that explains how it's Bradley's fault. Why didn't I see that 'logic'?

I see you still haven't learned would of isn't the same thing as would HAVE or would'VE.
Wa wa blame gus wa wa
Quote:Same question. What did he (Belichick) adjust?

I will state this; that the New England Defense now is reported as being a 4 - 3 front whereas in the past (think Tedy Bruschi, Willie McGinest, Mike Vrabel days) they were predominantly a 3 - 4 team.
Eagles is a more attractive offer for Schwartz, plus Gus will want to run his defense and probably has more input this season. Also, even though I'm a Gus guy, his future is in jeopardy. For a coach, logevity is more attractive and the Eagles offer the prestige and a better chance to stick for more than a year.

People get caught up in the coaching, it's important but a coordinator is not going to make or break the Jags and it's not Gus's fault as someone earlier mentioned.

Jaguars will need to upgrade their defense talent wise, it's not really about who's calling the plays.

I hope Gus can shake some of this criticism off this season. Schwartz was a big name so of course fans will get big eyes for the name recognition. I can't emphasize enough that it's players not plays, but that does not make Braldey blameless either for the teams struggles.

Jags hired Greg Olson, despite him being on the payroll for 2012.

Ah I guess its not that rare then? Sorry Browns.

I know this is probably just going to confuse you, but I don't think Gus made the decision for Schwartz to go to the Eagles.  I know you have this inability to think beyond a single focus, so you have to blame Gus, so I understand why you'd post something idiotic like this.
Way too much stock being put into the "coach em up coach" business here.

If we had JJ Watt and young Jared Allen on our roster and were always busting into the backfield ... would Babich be a great coach?

I don't care if we even hire a famous coordinator. I want Fowler tearing it up, Marx being disruptive again, and additional drafts and FAs pushing offensive lines back.

@1010xl "I heard Monte Kiffin is in (Jacksonville) today (talking to Jags, but not necessarily interviewing for DC opening)," @1010xl_T_Wigg

Please god no.

It's been mentioned that Gus may bring him in as a consultant but not the DC. I guess he's his mentor or something to that effect.

How could this possibly be a bad move?

Bringing in a great defensive mind as a consultant is a bad thing?
