Quote:Then why did Khan hire him if he really sucks.
Have you seen Bradley?
He is an extremely well liked guy. He probably interviews well and after having no emotion Mularkey, Gus looked awesome. I think people love him as a person but I haven't seen any good coaching out of him.
It's not as if the Seattle defense fell after he left. It actually got better.
Quote:An outside hire makes sense because clearly what we have been doing is not working.
Gus needs to allow someone else to come in, assess the players, and coach to their strengths. Not force this scheme onto them like the previous 3 years.
Eh, to be fair. Some guys just aren't good coordinators. Babich hasn't ever succeeded calling defensive plays in his league tenure. Wash was in charge of the run game and did a great job. He's familiar with the system more than anyone since he goes way back to Seattle with Gus.
Not to mention, with the possibility of this being a last season for Gus. Not many coordinators will look our way just for a 1 year stint.

Schwartz is probably thinking the same as Marrone last year, "if I take that job I might be the Head Guy before Thanksgiving."
How about Rocky Seto? Not sure if he'd be allowed to be interviewed. (Not clear on the rules regarding assistant head coaches and coordinator positions)

That'd be awesome too, but not sure if it would be considered a lateral move or not.

I have a real good feeling about Falcons assistant head coach/defensive passing game coordinator Raheem Morris. Players love him, and his experience with the Bucs and Falcons gives him a unique perspective on Bradley's scheme. Moreover, the Bucs defense was among the best in the league when he was their head coach. Some might argue how bad the Falcons defense was this past season, but their secondary under Raheem's guidance is getting some kudos...

The secondary has at times has shown flashes of brilliance for assistant head coach Raheem Morris and defensive backs coach Marquand Manuel. The elevated play of cornerbacks Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford, as well as the relatively smooth transition from corner to free safety in Ricardo Allen gives the Atlanta Falcons a ton to look forward to in their defensive backfield. -

That is a sad reality unfortunately.
Quote:I see this being more likely. Wash is an up and comer, and Gus isn't going to want to stray too far from the family farm when it comes to defensive scheme. If he decides he wants to call plays, he can elevate Wash and put his stamp on the defense without too much rocking of the proverbial boat.
If Wash is promoted, who will be our DL coach? Will he have two official job titles?

Here's an article with some highlights from the conference call with Bradley today.
That's interesting.
Judging by that, it seems unlikely they will promote someone that's already on the staff.
Really curious to see how this turns, fingers crossed for a great DC together with an important Free agency and draft.
Quote:Don't you get tired of producing the same old crap? You need new material. Your stuff is boring and juvenile.
Perhaps your mom could help.
Sounds like someone needs to turn that frown upside down. Would you like another scoop?
Quote:Based on what has been mentioned the last couple of days, what is the likelihood that the Jags will continue to use their current Defensive Scheme or a slightly modified version of it?
I hope Gus brings in a guy who'll introduce new wrinkles, be those true 3-4 looks, maybe even (gasp!) man coverage.
I could see lovie smith coming here.

I would like that, can't believe the Bucs let him go. What where they thinking, that he could turn it around in two seasons with a rookie QB in his second season as HC, idiots!
Hopefully there lost is our gain.
Welcome to the Jags Lovie.
If im Gus, i would be on the phone with him right now.

Double post
...and Lovie Smith catapults to the top of the list.
Oh, Gus puppet, apparently. Heard it here first.
