Quote:Dallas avg age was like 26.1 there (1990). The Jags are 25. something. So, its close.
Is that what's important to you?
I counted 81 total years of experience on that 1990 Dallas Cowboys roster.
I also counted 81 total years of experience on the Jaguars roster.
Offense + Defense
This included the 30 years between the starting DL, ignoring that most of them share a lot of time with their backup (only 18 years between 5 players).
I get a kick out of people who post "players not plays" as though the coaches have nothing to do with acquiring or teaching the players.

Coaching certainly helps, but let's be realistic. They can't go out there and make the plays work. With such a young roster, all they can do is hope for the players to retain SOME of what they're taught short term with the expectation that the coaching will eventually sink in to the point where it's instinctual. You're not really trying to imply that with all of the rookies starting currently, they should be expected to be studs instantly?

Studs instantly? No.
Above 31st on defense/ 32nd on offense AGAIN?.....yep.

Rams have the youngest roster in the league... A back up back up QB and one of their best defensive players is on the sideline with an injury... They seem to be competing quite well this year despite their lack of wins.

....AN UNDRAFTED QB at that....
He's thrown 6 TD passes the past 2 games. Over 300 yards each game.
You don't see them treating Austen Davis with kid gloves or as a game manager.

But according to those here who demand progress, wins are all that matters.

Well, we should immediately judge the team and not wait to see how things progress this year. That's what you premature folks do, right, twitchy?

LOL @ "immediately" judge.
....we're now 21 games in and the same level of play ensues on both offense & defense.
The QB has changed and they are still treating him like a game manager (in the most recent game) like the last QB.

They completely blew the roster up last year. They've started the build process using the draft as their primary tool this year. This coach, GM, and team will be judged by how well their new quarterback develops. What happened last year is completely irrelevant to anything except the fact that they dumped a lot of trash that needed to go in order to change the direction this team is headed. I know it's something you're incapable of doing because it requires the intellect to see there's a plan underway, and that it should have been expected the team would struggle before they got better.
This new QB has started 2 stinking games. Let's talk about premature evaluation, shall we? I've never seen someone so judgmental about others while living a life that would hardly live up to your own demands if there was a message board to critique kitchen help.

I'm not implying the rookies should be studs instantly, I'm commenting on people who say "players not plays" as a reason for coaches to dodge criticism because of poor performance on the field. It's the coaches who put the players on the field therefore they should be accountable as well.

Well, calling plays is something entirely different than teaching players. And acquiring players is the issue. So, yes, if the head coach is tasked with player acquisition and the roster is horrible, then yes, the coach is to blame And someone with an inability to teach players is not going to make it to the NFL head coaching level. Sorry, just not buying it..
So, to be clear, I don't see Bradley as blameless for the situation the team is in. Some will argue player acquisition is solely up to Caldwell, but I'd counter by saying it's not likely Dave operates independently. He's certain to listen to Bradley on matters concerning potential players.

I think the coaches will always deserve a share of the blame, but you still have to put things into proper context.

I don't buy into the notion that Bradley is off the hook for anything past the prior 2 games. Thats a cop out.

Bingo.

Very adult like.... "If you don't like it then don't read it" schtick that you have is quite annoying.
But carry on as usual.
It will almost always be players and not plays. John Fox went 7-9 with the broncos and then the next year poof, 14-2. All because of Manning. You need good coaching but give me the best players on the field over a coach any day.

Is there anything wrong with my point? Is someone forcing you to read my posts?
I agree with your only football point. Getting the QB fixes a lot of things.

By the way, all of the above said, count me in the camp of people who want to see how this season plays out. It's quite possible a few players can really develop, one being at the most important position.

Well, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what you buy or don't buy. The bottom line remains the same. The owner has bought into the process, and is allowing this thing to play itself out. You're more than welcome to be premature in your evaluation. I'm sure that's a common theme in your life.
