Fulham + Jags = Shad. There's a pattern. Jinxed.
Let's blame him.
Del Rio, Mularkey, Bradley. None have delivered. Two with Super Bowl credentials in the defense area.
Yet, it's the same thing. Mediocrity at best.
But this year, I'd say all of us expected improvement, competitiveness. Zippo.
When you see other teams like Cleveland, Buffalo, Texans improving fom last year and we are still treading water...in fancy pools...it is frustrating.
But blame? Might as well just throw crap at the wall.

I agree with your only football point. Getting the QB fixes a lot of things.
We have the QB now.......
It'd be nice if they'd take the shackles off of him that they inexplicably put on him the past 6 quarters.
Bortles with a 5 YPA over the last 6 quarters is inexcusable, because he's obviously so much better than that. Coaching and conservatism is the only reason its happening. I believe they've gotten into his head to refrain from risk and take the safe play, all because he threw a few INT's..... This coaching staff needs to let him play. The INT's are irrelevant unless they are all of a sudden paranoid about their jobs. W-L don't matter right now. Developing a high scoring, aggressive offense is all that matters. Take the shackles off of Bortles!!!!

He's still a rookie with a tremendous learning curve to overcome. You were of that mindset right up to the point where he was inserted as the starter. Suddenly he's the second coming of Dan Marino. The only things "shackling" Bortles are Bortles and the 6 other rookies contributing on offense. You're apparently not smart enough to recognize that.

Do you mean the shackles that allowed him to check out of running plays into passing plays?
Quote:It will almost always be players and not plays. John Fox went 7-9 with the broncos and then the next year poof, 14-2. All because of Manning. You need good coaching but give me the best players on the field over a coach any day.
Yes. There are countless examples of it. Our own head coach is one. He was a defensive wizard in Seattle, not so much here. Meanwhile, Seattle plugs in another guy, and their defense is still good. Maybe Bradley left his
Guide To Good Coaching book in the Seahawks locker room.

I think Bortles utilizing the whole field more only HELPS him succeed faster not hurts that chance. The entire defense is playing in the 10 yard box these past 6 quarters because they know Bortles is not utilizing the whole field of late and mostly passing short.
As said, The Colts developed Luck and Manning by having them "let it fly". Not by putting the shackles on them.
Bortles is going to throw a lot of INT's as a rookie. Let him do it and learn.

Oooh, check out from a running play to a predictable 8 yard passing play....
Yes, thats really proof of the opposite.

He's not being shackled, but feel free to keep pushing that agenda. It's what you do.

Shackles. Must be the word of the day on your kitchen calendar.

The opposite would be him not having the ability to check out of plays and audible. I get that it doesn't fit your agenda though. It simply has to be bad coaching and them putting shackles on the rookie.

5.5 YPA the last 6 Q for a QB that was 9.0 or above in all 6 appearances as a Jag until that point as well as 9.3 as a UCF Knight his last season.
Yes, shackles.

Yes, because once again preseason and college football is EXACTLY like regular season NFL games where teams are game planning against you. It's amazing how similar they are.

The only reason Bortles YPA is so low of recent is because of the limitations our own coaches are putting on him, it has nothing to do with opposing defenses. He throws a few deep INT's and they panic and have him game manage after those.

Yup. College football and NFL preseason = NFL regular season.
Got it.

You don't know that. Unless you're in the playbook, you haven't a clue what you're talking about. You don't know what's going on as Bortles goes through his progressions. You're simply spouting your ignorant opinion thinking it's fact. It's what you do.

It can't be because of the fact that he is a rookie making rookie mistakes playing in an offense full of rookies... Nope, it's because the coaches have him in shackles.
Got it.

That explains why we brought in Chris Clemons! Gus asked him to bring it back, but he forgot.

I don't know that for fact no, but it sure as hell seems to fit and is plausible.

Yet it's still not fact. The coaches aren't shackling their QB. To suggest otherwise is pretty much as dumb as it gets.
