Probably hundreds of millions more expensive.

You have the cost of acquiring all the necessary land for the stadium and parking. Then the cost of clearing it. On top of that, Daily's Place would no longer be an attractive venue and you would lose the use of all the new practice facilities requiring new ones to be built on the other side of the river in order to have practical value.

I don't think the city nor Khan could accept that kind of wasted investment in order to move the stadium across the river.

One issue you have to consider with a 4 year plan vs a 2 year plan is that the longer a construction process goes, the more expensive they become and the more likely they will go over budget.

With the new practice facility there is no need to even go to the stadium except on game days regardless of where the stadium is located.  Daily’s Place appears that it could be a stand alone venue and should fit right in with current construction/entertainment district.  The only drawback I can see is cost differential.  We know the long term goal is to develop both sides of the river and this would get a jump on that as well as keep the team here while they build the new stadium.

I am sure they can do it. I believe they said it was only another 1 billion to start new...

Another terrible aspect of UF hosting NFL games would be traffic and parking.  First of all the traffic would be coming from 1 direction (Jacksonville) whereas the traffic for UF games comes from all directions in Florida.   They other thing is that UF games can mitigate traffic and parking because a portion of the ticket allotment is for students who live on campus and don't have to drive to, and park at, the UF stadium.

How about don't go to the games in Gainesville, throw your season ticket money (figuratively speaking) into a pot called "season tickets," and then buy some season tickets when the new stadium opens up?  You'll probably need some money then.
“Season tickets”…Bah! The Homebiscuit Beer Fund is where it’s at.

I don't follow.  If I don't go to the games, I can just sell my tix and make ~ 100% profit on the sales.

A. Zero reason to move the stadium anywhere - the current location is geographically perfect - and they will save a few hundred mil by building on the bones of the old foundation.
B. The SouthBank may be in someone's plans, but it doesn't appear anywhere in what Khan/Lamping have laid out for the stadium. ent. district and lux hotel timeline.
C.Why spend even more than the exorbitant cost already planned?
D. Why work to create an entertainment district and attract a luxury hotel to the north side of the river and move the stadium away from all of that?
E. All of that land on the Southbank east of the end of the riverwalk is already earmarked by the city for some major project. Last I heard it was going to be a huge Duval County School board office and complex, which seems a horrible waste of prime riverfront, but, hey...  we've been squandering downtown for decades now.
I still think Orlando is the best option. Yes, Gainesville is closer, but it comes with traffic problems and speed traps. The trip to Orlando is all interstate, and it’s really not a bad drive.
Fans can make a weekend out of it-go to Disney or other attractions on Saturday and attend the game on Sunday. I also believe the Jags need to extend their fan base to population rich Central Florida market. I suspect the Bucs won’t like it, though.

I agree with all of your points.  You saved me the effort from writing something similar.  However, I would like to comment on "E".  I don't know where you heard that they were considering this Southbank location for a new school board building.  There has been some talk of relocating the school board, but the two locations I've heard is to either lease space in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Building in Riverside or build a new building in the LaVilla area on the north side of the river.

For those unfamiliar with the Southbank project on the site for the former generator station, NYC is right in that it is definitely "major".  It's going to take multiple years to construct, so some of the later phases are still subject to modification, but I understand the plan is to include over 1,100 apartments/condos, 40 town houses, a 200 person hotel, an office building, retail space, restaurants and a marina.  If someone wants development on the Southbank, the last thing you want to do is cancel this project.  This project isn't just empty speculation either.  It's already in progress.  They are already "pushing dirt" and my understanding is that they have nearly completed installation of all of the needed utilities.  They will then move to building roads with construction of buildings to start in the fall.
Yeah Gainesville would be horrible, there is no fast way to Gainesville from Jacksonville. It's all one lane roads from Putnam Im pretty sure 301 is all one lane as well. Traffic would be a nightmare lol

Assuming i'm going new while still playing in the old, thats where i would place it, assuming that there isnt any cleanup from the old JEA Southside Generating Plant required, which used to be on that property. Multi-level parking garages would be required, IMO. However, this whole thing would torpedo plans for the Northbank Entertainment Complex currently on the drawing board. I dont see it happening.

Look at that site on google maps.

There is room for a stadium.
Parking? Not so much.

It’s all a moot point if what Duke posted is true.
This, seemingly, would rule out Gainesville.

I have to hand it to them, though. They actually tried to engage topically before dropping their spam.

According to 1010, Daytona is stumping hard to get the Jaguars games.

Daytona said they are meeting with architects, which I assume would be to add things like locker rooms and addition seating. I wonder if Daytona would pay for that to make themselves look more attractive.

To me Daytona still makes the most sense logistically so I’m pulling for that to be the place that gets picked. I really can’t stomach going to Gainesville/Orlando for two years.
