“Lead” is not quite right. It says he’ll act as an advisor to the city council but not be involved directly in the negotiations. Probably a good thing to get someone with his experience in that role.

The new administration seems resolute in finding a way to make this happen.
Will be very interesting to see how much they agree to pay and where they will source the funds.

There’s some media guy on 1010 talking about his game experience as a fan at the FSU v LSU game in Orlando. His words:  “It was a dump.” He said they ran out of water and beer by the end of the third quarter, restroom facilities were portable and the parking was minimal with most people paying high prices to park on private property. He says the Jags really need to do their due diligence before looking at Orlando.

Update: The media guy was Rick Ballou. So maybe he’ll talk more about it on his show at 6:00.

Ballou is a miserable, whining louse, but he's probably right on this one - and I really hope they figure out a way to make Daytona work for all parties.

Have you ever been to this stadium? I didn’t even know it existed until alternate sites were proposed.

Sorry - I listen to 1010 quite a bit. He can really pour it on heavy with his whine time over anything he discerns as unsatisfactory. 
He also goes on some creepy misogynistic rants at times. I'm shocked he hasn't been canned over it. 

I haven't been to the stadium in Orlando, but I have a bud who has gone to bowl games there and reports back with a resounding "meh"

Bottom line ANYWHERE they go within 4 hours of Jacksonville will require 60ish million dollars of improvements (project money) to make it ready. This can be done here in Jax at a few sites as well leaving our community in a better way. What is the motivation to go elsewhere ?

I would love to keep it here in Jax. I don’t think fans would mind sitting on bleachers for a couple of seasons to get a nice shaded stadium.

I still think it's going to be Gainesville.  It's a large stadium that was actually built for football.  Any renovations made to it would remain useful after the Jags leave.  In these makeshift stadiums, much of the money would go to things that would either be torn down or sit around with little use when the Jags are done.  Daytona would also be unavailable for home playoff games which means that we would likely be playing them in Tampa or Atlanta.  That's lame.  Gainesville makes the most sense.

Gainesville has a timeline to do their own renovations and Jacksonville isn’t included.

It'd be ideal to keep it in town but even with 60 million, where can the NFL play locally? I don't think the baseball grounds would work no matter how much you put into it. The UNF stadium? I don't see how that would work, for one thing you'd have to add at a lot of additional seating, 9500 seats won't cut it.

I have.  It isn’t exactly luxurious.

Two options?  One expand UNF.  Also there was a news story about pro soccer team building a 20,000 seat stadium. They said on the news that financing was in place, add the 60 to that and maybe so.  That stadium was suppose to be used for more than soccer. (lacrosse, field hockey etc)

Word is that the negotiations between the city and ownership of the Jags have officially begun.

I'd expect those two to be sitting on Persian carpets and drinking tea while negotiating. I bet they could hammer out a good deal.

For anyone who's ever spent any time in the Middle East, you can see it's a common way business is conducted. They lounge, smoke, sip tea and discuss events; then a little business; then each other's families; then a little business; and so on while passing deal numbers back and forth. Negotiating is regarded as a game of patient chess.

The stadium is going to be a show stopper and will reflect the explosion of growth occurring in and around the gorgeous city of Jacksonville.
