In a shocking turn of events, successful teams don't need to hustle in free agency.

What are you trying to prove? That teams don't need good WRs?

49ers- Deebo and Aiyuk
Bills- Diggs and Davis
Bucs- Evans and Godwin
Texans- Dell and Nico
Browns- Cooper and Jeudy now
Fins- Waddle and Tyreek
Eagles- AJB and Devonta
Cowboys- Lamb and Cooks
Packers- Tons of young talent
Lions- ARSB and Young Jamo
Rams- Puka and Kupp
Ravens- Flowers and OBJ
Steelers- Pickens and Dionta

Then KC with turds.

All those teams made the playoffs. Almost all of those teams have an elite WR and some have 2. The only reason Ridley is a FA is because of how the trade was made. It has nothing to do with his ability.

LOl, or it means that we have a deal in place that he wants and that he likes it here so he's helping out his team by making sure we have the better draft pick to make us better.

It’s easy to forget the human element. Perhaps he and Trevor have a strong bond. Perhaps he sees that the culture here is a good fit for him. Let’s see how it plays out

This just tells me you think Jacksonville is a lackluster destination and players only come here when they don't have other options.

Why are you a fan again?

Yep, we get to accustomed to thinking that every player is a self-centered mercenary, they aren't all like that.
I think if Ridley signs with us, it will be because we offered a contract that was roughly equivalent to what another team offered, plus he likes it here and wants to come back. He might give us a little discount, but not a deep discount.
Rumor is a division rival is making a last second push.....

I also think it shows how appreciative he is that we made a trade foe him when he was suspended. Any team could have got him then but we did. We took a chance on him and it looks like he's taking a chance on us.

Can't help but like that.

In looking at their respective cap situations, it could really be any of the 3 too. AFCS looking real competitive between us, the tinhorns and the clots for the next few years.  I don't think it matters much if Ridley were to go to the tacks.  I just think they are being mismanaged into the ground.

No.

I think some are overvaluing him. Now that we've signed Gabe Davis and have a healthy Zay Jones and Christian Kirk on the squad I'd hoped the team would try to get younger and less expensive in the WR room.

Not everyone feels that way.   I get it.

In no way did I mean to imply that the current organization is a "lackluster destination".   Sheesh.

I'm saying that I don't think the better teams value Ridley as much as the Jags do.   Maybe I'm wrong.
Why should Ridley be in a hurry to sign anything? He has 2 offers in his pocket, one from us another from the Pats. The Pat offer has to be about 9% higher than ours to be the same. That is for just state income taxes. COLA is much higher there as well. Now maybe other teams are now interested who knows? Time will tell.

Calvin Ridley is like 3 months older than Zay Jones and is a better WR. We would sign Ridley, cut Zay, and still draft another WR.
Oof, they can have him for that price.
Titans 92M 4 year , $50 M guaranteed
Welp.

Trade for Tee, sign Holly wood or draft one at 17.

If we hadn't signed Gabe I would have wanted to keep Calvin.

The minute Gabe was signed I wanted Ridley's $$$ to go towards upgrading the defensive front seven.   That's it.

I don't care if Calvin is better than Zay.   I don't believe Calvin is better than Christian when it comes to being Trevor's #1.

Guess that #17 pick is wide open now.
Welp, [BLEEP] Calvin Ridley. He can waste the rest of his career in tacktown

really feels like what this is, some guys just want the $ and could not care less if they win, and some make the sacrifices to stick with a good team. Clearly, Calvin is the former. Can't blame him, what a bag, stupid overpay imo.
I don’t care that we didn’t sign him, but he chose a sinking ship division arch rival. He’s dead to me. See ya!
So much for winning being what was most important to him.
