It “only” cost the Jags a third and a 5th round pick to have Ridley for one year. One forgettable year…

Clowns to the left of me , clowns to the right ….

Ridley used the Jags to brush off the rust and NOW he’s ready to go play for real, with the Titans

The Jaguars have a bad habit of being used and abused…

Yea, latest user attempting the same thing is San Fran.  We can get a one year rental on a receiver for only our first round pick !! Wheee..

What makes you think Aiyuk would be a 1 year rental?

He's 25 years old and one of the best route runners/WRs in the NFL. This would be like when the Bills traded for Diggs. You extend him and have him and Trevor together for 5 years.

I would never give up a first round pick for a guy who is in the last year of his contract.  If you manage to sign him to an extension, you are paying twice for one player.  One player for the price of two.

In this scenario, they still get to keep a first rounder but they're just swapping.

This isn't just some WR either. He's legit one of the best and he's 25. You wouldn't trade a 1st for Justin Jefferson, who is also in the last year of his contract? Or Lamb who's in the last year of his?

You pay for elite talent.

Playing devils advocate: they learned from their mistake trading AJ away and are trying to rectify it with calvin. Not saying calvin is as good as AJ Brown, he clearly isnt.

Correct. This is an admission of failure. However, to be fair, both of these decisions were made by two completely different General Managers. Ran Carthon took over the General Manager role in Jan. of 2023. AJ Brown was traded the year prior under Jon Robinson's tenure.

The only common denominator is ownership here. Amy Adams Strunk allowed a lot of this to take place. They're in a rebuilding phase. They believe they have their QB of the future in Will Levis. They have to try and give the kid a chance so Ridley was their best option.

I still think, however, firing Mike Vrabel was a grave mistake. Also, they still have DeAndre Hopkins for one more year, and, he wasn't ALL that bad last year. They can also choose to draft one of the top receivers available next month. I wouldn't sleep on this football team at all.

Could easily be the 2023 clots in our division for the year 2024, pushing their play-off hopes alive all the way through the final whistle of week 18. Also, lawd have mercy if they [BLEEP] around and end up drafting Brock Bowers. I am telling you now. Bowers in this division with Levis' ability to scramble, break tackles and chuck it does not bode well for this division in the long run.

Levis sucks as does Tennessee and the Oilers

I expect them to be at the bottom of the division this year largely because I think ownership is bad and they seem to be making bad decisions in succession which usually doesn't end well.  Much will depend on if Will Levis is the guy.  I liked him better than most coming out, but I don't like him so much to say that he's necessarily a top 20 QB in the league.  They are kinda all in this year with him assuming they don't draft a new QB at 7.  Calvin and Nuk are going to get caught by father time sometime between now and the next couple of years so it looks like they are counting on Will to deliver this year which I don't see happening.

I think they find out this year that he'll likely never ascend to top 10 status and then find themselves in QB purgatory for a while because they won't be awful enough to earn a top 5 pick next year either. Poor tittians.

Yep. Annnnnnnd how many of us were singing the exact same tune last off season when the tinhorns drafted Stroud? Telling you man. If it's anything I have learned over the years watching the NFL? It loves it's parity.

There's at least on average four to six new teams in the play-off mix every year. That team was scrappy last season. Sometimes new blood, with a new approach and a new coaching staff can redefine itself and redefine itself quickly.

That same team you said sucks? Guess what? We had to beat them in 2022 to get into the post season and it was a dog fight and they kept us out of it last year in in the finale of the season. We should all know better by now but I digress.

We'll see. Ridley just took some father time away from Hopkins by being his counterpart and taking pressure off of him. Ridley had at least two years of father time frozen in time.

Won't make that mistake again man. This team, whether we like it or not, it's our giant's bane. Had to overcome them in 2022 to get the 4th seed and division secured. We had to beat them in 2023 to essentially do it again and they waxed our [BLEEP] and then some.

You can hate your rivals while also respecting the fact that nothing comes easy. Especially when we play them.

Just talk. He also mentioned his route tree was very limited in Jacksonville and Tennessee would let him run all the routes.

Still does not erase the fact that he said "I honestly really wanted to be with the Jags". He just had to tell the media up there why he's really there. Money. It's got nothing to do with being with a winner, competing right away, etc. He's on a team that will struggle and it'll be 50/50.

At the end of the day. He chose $50M guaranteed. You can kind of see it on his face though man. He really didn't want to leave Jacksonville. We gave that dude a second chance. I think he'll be forever grateful for that.

You don't say that you really wanted to be with the Jags at your press conference with your new squad who is the Jags arch rival, unless in your heart you sincerely have some remorse and regret that the bidding just didn't fall that way.

Outside of that, it was a long winded answer trying not to focus on it being all about the money for him to finally say it was about the money at the end. lol

He wasn't even able to consistently run the routes they gave him so what did he expect. That or all the times he ran the wrong route he was going rogue.
