On a hilarious note, McCaffrey struggled to even do 10 reps on the bench press. Now however much stock you wanna put into that in terms of the NFL, feel free, but as a dude who spends a lot of time in the gym, yikes, Christian.

What I meant was people complaining a 4.5 is slow for both, but as you said it's a great time for Fournette's size. For Cook being the back who's supposed to be faster, running the same 40 time as a guy 30 pounds heavier than you looks a lot worse for Cook.
Both are still great backs.
yeah i see what you are saying.
Cook running a 4.50 is no surprise to me though. He has good speed but not world beating speed. He's got great vision and gets up to his full speed very quickly though. He was able to get to the outside even against teams like Clemson, Michigan, Florida, consistently.
sometimes the combine breaks a player down and you see individual drills.. but the player may be much much much better than the sum of his parts.
Quote:Yep, confirms that he's got homerun speed, which is what we saw on tape.
If Elliott wasn't so lazy he would have lost 60lbs and run a 4.0 flat.
Quote:I'll bump this post when he is in the pro bowl. Yes. Let's take another pass rusher that will take a good few years to develop over a running back who will change the entire scheme of your offense immediately. Who not only helps your young QB after an alarming set back and opens up the passing game by giving him one on one situations. Who says he's not a great pass catcher on 3rd down? You think teams would even be considering him in the top 5 if he didn't acquire that skill in some compacity? Come on.
Pro bowl? lol Like that means anything. Bump it all you want. I've never claimed he's a bad player but that he would be a bad pick at 4 with the depth at RB this year.
Yes. Take another pass rusher. Take as many as you possibly can. Pass rushers effect the game way more than a RB does. I agree having a good running game helps your QB out but it doesn't have to be a RB. How did it work out for Goff and the Rams to have Gurley? You need an Oline for it to work right and this Oline isn't good enough.
Did you know that in the playoffs this year there was only one team that had a RB drafted in the first round? Cowboys. Who lost because they couldn't rush the passer. Elliott is very good don't get me wrong but an elite RB isn't what it used to be.

But, but, third down back...
I'm curious what people were really expecting from Fournette. Everybody isn't on Fred Taylor's level. Very few guys are 225+ and have his kind of breakaway speed. Fred Taylor could probably go out there now and compete with Fournette athletically but they're different kind of backs.
Quote:Oh my god. Alright I'm done with this argument.
LOL... Football is not jumping over people. That's Madden. Which button is that, again, glock?
Just, wow.

so we are not allowed to upgrade the RB position until we improve our offensive line. makes sense. You get improvements wherever you can.
we can get a RB at 4 if we wish AND still upgrade the offensive line.
I just don't like the argument of "hey our offensive line sucks - we shouldn't draft a RB"... you're drafting for the future. if you expect our offensive line to be bad forever then yes we will suck and everyone needs to get fired lol

Thats literally what they mean for every position other than receiver and corner where they're directly related to jumping with/over guys
Why do you think they do the jump drills for all the other positions? You think theyre measuring the linemans ability to hurdle dlineman?

The Jags can upgrade the RB position but don't do it at the expense of passing up an elite defensive talent when there will be RB talent there in the later rounds.

That does seem awfully weak. I'm not an "athlete" by any means close to a NFL player, but I do lift and try to keep a relatively low BF % and I'm at 8 reps at 265. I would think I could do 10 at 225 without too much difficulty. And I'm just a dude who goes to the gym.

Again, I'm done with this argument. In the nicest way possible to say this, but some of the takes and input here is outright laughable. Don't quit your day jobs.

So what does the broad jump mean? is that to measure how muh yardage they can jump into? Is there any other drills you wanna take at the most absolute basic meaning or is it just the jumps
You guys actually think these gms are looking at these drills and thinking "man his vertical isnt very good, how is he gonna hurdle linebackers a handful of times a year effectively?"

Yeah exactly. I guarantee you could do more than 10 at 225. It doesn't necessarily condemn him as a RB but he is going to need to get stronger.

At some point you have to rely on your picks. We just drafted Fowler 3rd overall and Ngakoue set a franchise record in sacks. Both playing their first full year. Your offense was a complete train wreck and there's only 2 ways to move the ball. On the ground and through the air. If you have a guy who is potentially an elite talent you take him in this circumstance with a struggling QB. You can still find pass rushers later in the draft to develop. You've got to commit to Fowler. Ngakoue likely ain't coming off the field and neither are Malik or Abry. You have the ability to develop now.

You cant take a position of superiority without an argument my man
Quote:The Jags can upgrade the RB position but don't do it at the expense of passing up an elite defensive talent when there will be RB talent there in the later rounds.
that's a different argument than saying "our offensive line is bad, we shouldn't draft a RB that high"...
you just have to see whether you think some RB at 4 is worth it more than a defensive player at 4.
you don't want to be drafting sammy watkins if you can have Khalil Mack and Allen Robinson in the 2nd for example.
I think having a special RB is important. not a decent one, not a good one - but a special one.
We have Ivory and Yeldon.. how many of these RBs do you really think will be significant upgrades over those 2? In this entire draft I see about 3 maybe 4 running backs that are better. Cook, Fournette, Mixon, and an honorable mention is McCaffrey who is more of an overall offensive weapon.
I think if you're going to IMPROVE the RB position, it has to be Cook, Fournette, or Mixon.
I don't think any of the other guys will do it.
