LOL at the people talking about not drafting fournette because of his high jump score but these same people say that the 40 doesn't matter for a DL. Why would high jump matter for LF? The one time a season he might need to hurdle a defender?

Dude ran under a 4.5 40 at 240lbs. That is pretty impressive.

With Cyp gone, Jamal Adams incoming.
Quote:McCaffery with the 4.49.
best RB in this class
Quote:What makes you think his weight has anything to do with motivation? He could feel 100% confident that he can be a great player at that weight. I'm just saying that if he cut weight then he'd easily be in the 4.4s.

Also some coaches are going to have varying opinions on what each player should weigh at for their scheme. Could be plenty of times that want to keep him at 240.

There's a huge perception difference between weighing 225-230 and running 4.35 and weighing 240+ and running in the 4.5s. if he didn't have the motivation to be his best on the biggest stage that says something and not a good something.

Dude has amazing tape/accomplishments.

But nah...

lol
Quote:Just saying you should never sign a guy thinking he'll be motivated to lose weight and run faster.

Still wouldn't go RB in round one regardless of how good anyone thinks he is.

Why does he need to lose weight?

To run a faster time, jump a higher vert, and reinforce the perception of his elite athleticism?

When a guy can't be bothered to try to make the best impression possible that's worrisome.

You're confusing being a football player and being a track star.  Just because he cuts weight and runs a 4.4 doesn't mean he's not being the best he can be.  He could be a better football player at 240 than at 225, just depends.

Running a 4.5 at 240 is hella impressive.

He had a vert under 30 in HS at 225 lbs...
Fournette is who he is. A big physical back. If he has trouble changing direction in drill then maybe the lose some weight comment will hold water.
Seriously, by that logic, you could argue that an offensive lineman should drop to 250 so he can post better combine scores and if he doesn't then he's lazy.  Makes no sense.

It's all about the man at the top.

If Tom looks at him and sees Fred, that may be it.  Signed, sealed, delivered.

We don't know.

that's not what anyone was saying or even implying.
That's a good time for LF

The jumps are about explosion not jumping over people

He was saying Fournette wasn't motivated to cut weight, which my point being is why would he need to?

Fred ran a 4.3 easily

Bo Jackson weighed 230 and ran a 4.13

He ran a 4.42 at 230
Cook's time is a lot more damning than Fournette's
