Think we're just grabbing onto false hope here. But in all honesty....he's the experienced coach with a track record. All we know of Gase is he's young, and agreed with manning
He's an upgrade from Fisch as far as helping Bortles develop which is crucial at this point. The big issue with Olson (as well as Fisch) is play calling, but at least Olsen has had success in the NFL unlike Fisch.
i'd rather have fisch back

Nice way to spin it. No sarcasm. Good positive outlook

What success has he had?
Apparently he had a part in mark Bulgers success and Josh freemans???

Wow.

Looks like we're gonna really have to trust gus on this one.

he obviously sees this guy as a good fit.

long time till first game though.

fingers crossed lol
Any positive feeling after the Marrone hire is out the damn window. Anybody who tries to defend this hire as anything other than settling for scraps is deluding themselves. If true, this is the most predictable thing ever. No OC candidate worth their salt would jump on a sinking ship like this. Here are the DVOA rankings of every offense he was coordinator for:

2004: 23rd (Lions)

2005: 29th (Lions)

2006: 14th (Rams)

2007: 31st (Rams)

2008: 20th (Bucs)

2009: 26th (Bucs)

2010: 8th (Bucs)

2011: 26th (Bucs)

2013: 28th (Raiders)

2014: 30th (Raiders)

Like give me a break. I'm sure the usual suspects will be talking about what a coup this is for the jaguars and how much smarter they are than everybody for hiring such an 'experienced' OC. This is horrible.

Unfortunate, he was really the only person we interviewed I didn't want here.

Fisch is better. wow. what a shytty hire.

Yep horrific record.

my fellow jags fans...

raise your cups and drunk deeply of gus juice
Gus isn't a head coach... glorified motivational speaker

He must have promised Gus that he wouldn't belittle Bortles in practice. Gase probably couldn't make that promise.

I give up. This team is just too timid to throw big money and get big names.

We are the laughing stock of Twitter. Will things ever change?

We've all got a long time till we see if he will call good plays....

gus and Crew wouldn't hire a guy who they thought wouldn't get the job done

We don't know this for sure. It could be a Rachel Phelps scenario from Major League.
The OC search for the Jaguars

I'm going to take the 'wait and see' approach to this.

I trust Gus.
Ugh...all the excitement from the hiring of Marrone is gone. Not only are we getting a retread, we're getting our OWN failed retread. The list of QBs that Olson's worked in the NFL: Joey Harrington, Marc Bulger, Josh Freeman, and Derek Carr.

Oh, and he's a WCO guy.
