Ahahahah. Olsen doesn't excite me, but at least it's not Fisch
^^ totally agree with you but all the unnecessary CAPITALIZATION made me want commit crimez
I'm not particularly happy about the Olson hire either, but at least it wasn't Callahan I guess?

I doubt we'll ever really know, but it would be interesting to know if we passed on Gase or if he passed on us.

Callahan, who went to the Redskins without, as best as anybody can tell, even interviewing with this team.

From reports, it seems like Gase is a bad interview.    Could also be that John Fox has shown interest in him and Gase wants to reunite with him in Chicago.
How is Marrone a loser? He was part of Payton's staff that turned the Saints around. He went to Syracuse and rebuilt that program. Then he goes to Buffalo and has their best season in 15 years.

I get being disappointed at Olson but Marrone is a dynamite hire.

Fact Greg Olsen had over 1000 yards receiving this year.

Fact Greg Olson is a guy who's being linked to the Jags as a OC.

Quote:Wow, I didn't realize how many hard core Jaguar/Raider fans we had in the Jungle.  So I'm assuming everyone that hates the Olson hire watches the Jaguars at 1PM Eastern then watches the Raiders play at 4PM EVERY SUNDAY.

I'm unfortunately not one of those fans.  I can't stand the raiders organization.  With that said, I watched a 4th quarter they played and a 1st half they played against the chiefs.

Carr looks good.  The 4th Quarter I watched they got into the red zone, ran 2 good plays and scored a TD.

So while I know nothing more about Olson than that, I'm optimistic.  Gase was an unknown.  Olson has been there and done that.  David Carr has less upside than BB5, played for an equally bad offense and looked very good.

Why so much over-reaction?

I mean, I know, we didn't hire Tresman or Lane Kiffen, or Bill Walsh, but we also didn't hire Mike Shannahan, Dirk Cutter, or some other bad OC.

Apparently I'm in the minority on this one.  But I just have to rely on the fact that the 1 major positive for the guy is how he developed David Carr.

Perfect post. Everyone is over reacting because he isnt the sexy hire. You can play the name game all you want but honestly, if he has not done so well other places, he may have learned from his mistakes and will do better here. That raider offense looked "alive" these past two seasons. I dont see how he cant improve. Especially as bad as Fisch was.

For the OP to answer you, he will have to start another thread.
Ok this hire pisses me off, i am willing to give Olson the benefit of the doubt, but i think he is a better QB coach, i don't like the fact we let Gase go and passed on him for a QB coach. Now i question Bradley.

Quote:I got to say, I have 0 faith in this front office.  Caldwell seems to be the only one with any kind of sense but even that is waning.  So this team aka Bradley decided it was good to hire 2 losers to build an offense ranked 31st?  Just head scratching moves.

1. They Hire Marrone:  This guy was the equivalent of the captain who abandoned ship to leave his crew to drown.  He turned his back on his team, his players, even his word.  Talk about a snake who can't be trusted.

2. Looks like Olsen is the OC:  A guy with a history of failure.  I just don't get it's a good idea to hire a guy who's teams has essentially been in the toilet.  The Raiders offense was worse than the jags and that is in itself a horrible accomplishment.

I just don't get it.
A coward??

So you would have stayed and not taken the 4 million dollars that is guaranteed to you PLUS whatever salary you get from the Jags?
Once more us Jags fans get a let down, and its not cause of another team, like Mack from last offseason, this time the ball was in our court and we failed.

LOL, a message board dweeb referring to someone as a loser.

I would be quite positive there is a whole lot of things " you don't get ".

Gase apparently is a terrible interview.

That Raiders team had so little talent on it and they looked pretty good at times.
How did Shad and Caldwell let this hire happen?

And mention Gus Bradley buying ice cream

Olson is not a OC in the NFL, hes a great QB Coach. Gase could of brought some of what he learned from Manning and used it on Blake. Gase wants a HC job, this would of been a great place for him to earn it after re building this O. Heck if Gus is fired next season, maybe we will see Gase on our sidelines?
Could of...

Would of...

Sheesh. Just makes me cringe. Carry on.
