Not a fan but he does have experience getting good things from young players. Mike Williams was a 4th rounder and was the best rookie WR that year and Legarrett Blunt did have a good rookie season under him.
Freeman was solid for him and Derek Carr improved from his throw off the back foot every play issue and had a good rookie season despite no running game, no O Line , and a clue board ar WR. If Bortles had thrown 21 TDs to only 12 picks we wouldnt be looking for a new OC right now.
At least Gus dug his own grave. No guessing, half stepping, it's pretty much over for him.

Sadly, you are right. The team that normally ruins are Fall Sundays is also ruining Winter Tuesdays.
And we all can expect the same mentality in free agency. No big money deals for this team. It'll only be TJ Maxx or ROSS shopping.

There will be big money deals I'm sure, just not for big money players.
Marrone could still call the plays over Olson. Assistant Head Coach>OC

No
This move is mindbogglingly ridiculous. Unfortunately, the apologists like FBT are crazy enough to defend this hire. It's almost like this team has a masochism with losing and bad teams. Reminds me somewhat of the final days of Nazi Germany and the Fall of Berlin...

Then why even bother with Olsen in the first place? I've never heard of an OC that was trumped by the OL coach when it comes to calling plays. Have you?

He is not just OL coach, he is Assistant Head Coach also
I got to say, I have 0 faith in this front office. Caldwell seems to be the only one with any kind of sense but even that is waning. So this team aka Bradley decided it was good to hire 2 losers to build an offense ranked 31st? Just head scratching moves.
1. They Hire Marrone: This guy was the equivalent of the captain who abandoned ship to leave his crew to drown. He turned his back on his team, his players, even his word. Talk about a snake who can't be trusted.
2. Looks like Olsen is the OC: A guy with a history of failure. I just don't get it's a good idea to hire a guy who's teams has essentially been in the toilet. The Raiders offense was worse than the jags and that is in itself a horrible accomplishment.
I just don't get it.

aka bradleys replacement if he does not succeed this year

That's what I thin also

Empty title to stroke his broken ego after missing out on a HC job.
I'm usually one of the more optimistic Jaguars fans, preaching patience and calm, offering perspective.
But I'm struggling here. Not sure what the angle is, going with a complete retread. Calling Olson mediocre is being generous.
The best I can say is that he's more passing game oriented. I guess I'm glad not to see Roman or one of these RB coaches.

I'm right there with ya my friend. I tried to be optimistic and let the process play out but now..... all I can hear is the theme for the Empire after this hire.
Don't worry guys

And you probably never will. There are plenty of examples of bad coaches who became good and good coaches who became bad. all you can do is sit and wait. What olson did with Carr was impressive and deserves to be looked at if your trying to get BB5 to the upper level of QBs. adn no im not saying carr is that but if you saw any of the raiders games, Carr looked the part of a nfl QB more then any rookie QB drafted last year. So keep on hating and the rest of us who know football will watch and wait to cast judgement.

Oh my god. I wish we had one competent person who covered this team. I can't wait for the mini-camp reports from Lags and crew talking about what an amazing job this staff is doing of coaching up their guys.
