Quote:You're blaming a QB coach because his QBs are bad? There's 2 first rounders and an early second on that list.

Joey Harrington should be classified as a 1st Rounder in name only.

Josh Freeman had plenty of talent but his work ethic/ intangibles fell off the chart.   Why this happened is something I certainly don't have the answer to but it ended up costing many people their jobs in Tampa.

If it's not accurate,  many different football media people are going to look like fools.

Unless proven otherwise,  I think one can assume its an accurate report.
Guys,

Im just as deflated or disappointed as you guys are but seriously - some of you are being downright stupid, use your head and think about what your saying before you type and let the whole world read at there own disposal.

Fact

Blaine Gabbert throws his best statistical season  under Olsen

Fact

Derek Carr had a surprising rookie season statistically under Olsen

Fact

He's coached 8 years as an offensive coordinator and EVERYTEAM sucked!

That's just a few to chew on, Guys - Relax and give the guy a chance, or just go bandwagon and cheer for another team...Enough said
Its accurate, Deal with it.

Right now I am just shocked that by watching the SOTU address I missed a breaking news report that Greg Olson will get the offensive coordinator job because according to NFL.com he was scheduled to interview with the Jaguars tomorrow. I also was very disappointed to see it will be Olson because although he did a great job with Derek Carr, Oakland's offense struggled overall. So I thought it would make more sense to hire him as a quarterback coach (assuming he's better at it than Frank Scelfo) or passing game coordinator. But I also understand the concerns about Adam Gase lacking experience with young developing quarterbacks, although I hate it when people say he was not the real OC in Denver because of Peyton Manning. Gase was my preference because he has no track record of failure and can be a head coach in waiting in case Gus Bradley is fired in a few years (not knowing yet Doug Marrone would be that guy). But I often think changes are bad at first and later realize they are okay, so I think this could be one of those times.

If NFL.com reports it, you can bet it's accurate.
Your second "fact" is fiction. David Carr has never been a Raider and is probably out of the NFL. If you want to accuse people of being stupid, don't get the Carr brothers mixed up.

Strange way to look at it... Are you saying Gus^ firing is imminent or something? or that Marrone is our future head coach when everyone gets there wish and Olsen flops as an OC, so Gus is a sitting duck?

WHATTTTT? im talking about DEREK Carr, you know.... go try Wikipedia if you want to educate yourself

Not saying I expect the Jaguars to fire Gus Bradley. I just like the idea of having a head coach in waiting as a backup plan. There could also be a situation where Bradley can't coach for a while (remember John Fox and Gary Kubiak last year?) so having someone qualified to be an interim head coach would be a plus. Again, I am not worried about it, just thinking about the "what if" possibilities.

You wrote the name David, not Derek.
True, well said... I understand what you mean now.

Error on both of us, I guess my edit didn't go through...

Sorry about the mis- communication

Anyway. I don't know what to think of this hire because while he obviously helped Derek Carr, his work in Oakland did not improve the whole offense.

Guess were in for another suicidal season where everyone wants to kill themselves because they didn't get who they wanted, and the rebuild is over before it started... and wah wah wah wah wah... crying all over again, so bored of it

Wish we had some passion in these message boards.

Long-time lurker, just don't post to much (obviously).. so disappointed we go from having an excited fan base to hiring one guy calling plays and were back in the Mularkey, Gene Smith days again

Not obvious to me. All I knew was you have fewer than 20 posts on your account.

We are not going back to the Mike Mularkey days. Yes, one of his assistants came back, but many of the players (including Blaine Gabbert) he had are gone now and David Caldwell is a very good drafter.
Sorry, just to clarify im saying its obvious that I don't post all that much, not that im a long-time lurker - that I cannot prove to any of you no matter what I say

But....

I do have a wealth of knowledge behind Jaguars and I follow them as a die hard fan all the way in Canada

For anyone looking for the bright side in all this, I just made two really great grilled cheeses.
