Cool. He was my second choice behind Mike Smith. Not displeased. Just hope he gets a new staff.
Quote:Fire Dave Caldwell now!
With Coughlin being VP we pretty much did.
I'm curious as to how this is all structured out. Maybe Coughlin didn't want to do press conferences so they kept Dave on to do that and get Coughlin coffee.
Quote:I got a double secret warning for my outburst regarding this front office, particularly the ownership of our beloved jaguars.
But man, it's just getting really ridiculous how badly we are being run as an organization right now...
Mike Smith would have been a very solid, very safe pick as head coach...
Instead, we go with Marrone... I just don't know what the heck these people are thinking.
Maybe it was the only way to get Coughlin onboard?
This organization is full of bone headed moves, but at least getting Coughlin is a lone shining star.
I rather have Mike Smith than Doug. How are the players supposed to respond when there is no change of culture?
Quote:I'd be surprised if he was kept.
With the success he had you shouldn't be.
Quote:The best thing about this hire is if we have another lousy year Marrone, Caldwell, and Bortles will all be gone and we can basically start over with the most important pieces of a team.... But at least we'll have a ton of the complementary pieces. Good defense. Some good WRs. etc...
I would be very surprised if Shad Khan blows everything up after one season. I think Dave Caldwell and Doug Marrone will have an opportunity with the Jaguars in the 2018 season barring a 2 or less win season in 2017.
Quote:Because D6 tom wanted marrone. And vouched for him. So was no reason too.
Yet, why not explore more options to see if someone might be a better fit?
Quote:Not that I'm crazy about this decision but did it ever occur to you that 'this consulting firm looked at all the candidates and actually recommended Marrone.
It happens in companies all the time. HR is outsourced and they have an opening for CYZ Inc. they get some good qualified outside applicants, but internal person posts for the opening and after a search, they realize the internal was the best all along. Just a thought
No way man. That could never happen *sarcasm*

In the final two weeks there was a complete 180 done on how the team watches tape, practices, uses down time in the locker room etc. I think a culture shock is coming.
Wash will keep the same exact defensive system, I bet my left testicle we'll be rolling with LEO and Otto in September.

And you know this how?

Defense went from below average to average. Wash was a better DC than Babich but the scheme is still bad and Marrone/Coughlin probably agree with that.
Bro, we just hired Tom Coughlin.
We good...

I hope so because bringing someone back on this team who was part of the worse team who had so much potential giving up on Thursday night against Tennessee was so embarrassing

I sold lemonade to him

Hicken saying on tv: "Player was late to team meeting last week, Marrone kicked him out and locked door.
Culture shock.

Yeah, he's not going to be on the sideline where he belongs.

6th isn't average and they got better as the season progressed.
Wash is a professional with a lot of experience. I'm sure if Marrone/Coughlin wanted him to adjust the defense it wouldn't blow his mind.
It would be hysterical if they hired Jeff Fisher as the DC.
