Ok, guys, would y'all laugh if the offer was made to Marrone, but he turned it down due to getting a better offer???? bwahahahahahhahahaha

More than likely there was better options... Im interested in seeing what happens with the coordinators and if he finds an oline coach that does a better job than he did... Ill hold off being angry until we start 0-3 next year

Quote:2013 - 6-10 LOSING RECORDThere's the Gus factor here. He obviously brought down the team. Also, coaching can't fix lack of talent on the line.
2014 - 9-7 WINNING RECORD
Oh he quit. My bad.
Hired as O line coach for Jaguars which arguably has one of the worst Olines in the NFL.
Won 1 game as interim coach.
Some record!

Quote:You're making the assumption no other candidates wanted this job over their possible existing offers.I disagree my friend, I dont think there was any guarantees with this job. You have to see that Caldwell is on the hot seat and unless he wins, hes out along with the head coach. I dont think it was as highly rated as some believe.

Jaguars 'liked the direction' Marrone took the offense in, as well as his 'belief' in Blake Bortles, per @RapSheet.
Yep, Dave completely incapable of having those tough conversations, as was warned.

yep, not sure how anyone can argue this point.
Dave Caldwell is and will be the reason why this team is a laughingstock.

Quote:He didnt improve anything. The team played well in one game. A game that had a lot to ride on. Players played well for they coach they liked who was just fired, also, many players said after the game they wanted to make the fans happy after a bad season and wanted to send them off with a nice holiday present. And, we were playing spoiler in our last home game against our rival who was playing for a playoff spot.Really? When was the last time the Jags jumped to a big lead in the first quarter, like they did in the Titans game? When was the last time they totally dominated a game like that. It was the first time every aspect of the team worked together. It was a breakthrough for the team.
Doug Marrone really hasn't done a thing to change this team. 2 games isnt enough to say that.

so this job was supposedly in such high demand that we went and got Doug friggin Marrone

His contract was up if ownership changed. He chose not to take the extension. That is not quitting.

The gag order on leaking info about how the search was going sure makes a lot more sense now.
01-09-2017, 05:29 PM
Quote:Kind of underwhelming. Not that I'm 100% against Marrone, but I feel like the Jags hyped this up big time. Fired Gus early to get a head start. Hired a consulting/search firm. Dave saying the search would be very broad. We were hearing so many big names tied to us. Many people were picking us to be the best place for a coach to come. This^ I don't get what they saw in 2 weeks that made them think "hey he can run this team" but did have that trust in him the 14 weeks leading up to it.
In the end we promoted our oline coach. Just doesn't bring excitement to me and I think that's what the Jags fan base needs.

However, it was against the Titans and Colts; not to mention after the HC was fired, so I'm sure a little more fire was lit underneath them. I just find it highly ignorant to do this and not have let him have more games........
