Well to be accurate, some fans turned on them the day he was hired. At least they're consistent!

Honestly it doesn't matter what the female's intentions were. Urban was a willing participant. It's like if I'm walking down the street and someone offers to sell me drugs - and I buy them. I'm not guilty because of the person selling the drugs, I'm guilty because I bought them. I could have said no. Urban is guilty (of very poor judgement) because Urban freely did what he did, not because someone with "bad intentions" enticed him.
As far as "turning on the team", I would say that I'm being loyal to the team by wanting a coach that puts the team's needs first and doesn't create unnecessary distractions. IMO Urban is the one who has "turned on the team" by putting his selfishness above the team, by not flying home with the team, by being a creepy old dude that relies on his fame to get close to young women and causing a distraction that has become National news and continues to make Jacksonville and the Jags a laughingstock. C'mon, in this day and age - everyone knows that whatever you do in public is fair game for someone to document.

So are you saying that anytime someone has an opinion that differs from the team, that they have turned on the team? So we're all supposed to just agree with whatever the team does, Gene's draft picks, Jack's chopping wood, Coughlin's "5 minutes early is ontime"....? I know you've disagreed with team decisions, were you turning on the team? Again, I would say that by wanting us to have a coach that puts the team first and doesn't cause distractions - that I am supporting the team. I'm a Jaguar fan, not an Urban fan or a Marrone fan or a Bradley fan....coaches will come and go - some are good and some are bad - my loyalty remains with the team.

There are already quotes from players that they aren’t buying in anymore and that they basically laughed at him when he left the room.
Are you saying that players won’t give their full effort on the field because of all this while Meyer is coach? Yes or no. There is no gray area here.
Maybe we should ask Carlos Hyde what he thinks...
I mean, I'm sure it's never happened in the past with this franchise.

You can't fire him for this alone.
He's no more a laughing stock today than he was the day he hired him. I get that may not be saying much in the eyes of some around here.

Good post. Shad Khan was enticed by the possibility of hiring college footballs winningest coach and all the publicity that came with it. I'm sure Meyer said all the right things during his interview for the job. Khan proved that one can be a billionaire businessman and know nothing about running an NFL team.
The best thing for this franchise now is for Khan to come to his senses and admit he chose the wrong coach. There are very capable football guys out there like Brian Daboll who could help this team become a winner- possibly as soon as the 2022-23 season. For a billionaire like Khan, buying out Meyer's contract is no big deal. Admitting he made a mistake may be another thing. The best hope for Jaguars fans is for Meyer to realize he got in way over his head and agree to step down. He can play the martyr role and step down "for the good of the team" due to losing the confidence and respect of his team.
Not sure if it has been discussed: What happens if the girl wants to press charges?

The players can have zero respect for Urban and yet still play to win.
Which is all that matters, right?
You guys are so invested in your hate for Meyer you can’t even keep priorities straight. Stop coloring the situation with your own emotions. He’s here to coach a team. Period. If they start winning none of this will matter.
I swear, I’m shocked at the unreasonable and visceral emotion some of you guys are channeling here. It’s been a really weird time on this board.
so not a big deal if a player decides he's not gonna fly home on the next roadie, cuz he has friends nearby, gonna spend the night at the clubs doing who knows what?
How's Urbz gonna tell that guy to get his butt on the plane with the rest of the team, or be smart about what he does in his free time?
Worse, what if the players decide they don't feel like hitting the weights today, coach can't tell us what to do.
I mean cripes, we JUST did this dance with the last regime. Memories can't be THAT short, can they?

No, you turn on the team the minute you start wanting the team to fail and enjoy the losses so as to get your way regarding coaching.

Well then I guess we can agree that I've never turned on the team. There has never been a game that I wanted the Jags to lose - even when we were in contention for last year's #1 overall pick - I understood that it would benefit the team to lose, but I couldn't root (want) the team to lose. After the fact, I could rationalize the fact that at least losing would help put us in a better draft position. I would venture to say there aren't many here that want the team to fail and enjoy the losses. Again, I'm loyal to the team - whoever the coach is - but that doesn't preclude me from having an opinion about who the coach should be or what should be expected from the coach.
Honestly, the embarrassment of Urban ducking out now alá Bobby Petrino would be far outweighed by the good it will do for Trevor and the franchise in the long term.
I was lukewarm at first and it may be too soon to some, but I’ve made up my mind. He needs to go.
The media and the internet will keep making fun until a new story pops up, Khan has tried to draw a line under it but the big thing from all this is has it affected the locker room? We shall see Sunday
And before you start with the 'they are pros' just look at this thread. Your either a Meyer Fan boy or you want him and the team to fail.
You think these conversations aren't going on in the locker room?
