They are going to pay Allen "Bosa money."

If they leave him on a tag the locker room will be lost. That we be the dumbest thing they could do right now.

If they were going to do that I believe a deal would be done.  Chris Jones got tagged and came back mid season, hes not above Jones or even close really at this point in his career .  As much as I love Alen and want him here he wasn't even team captain last year.  I highly doubt him being on the tag will affect the locker room one bit.  A bunch of players get tagged every year, it's nothing new

Bingo

I keep saying it.
Baalke has to go!

VP of Football Operations needs to be added!

Bingo

I would wait until after the draft and free agency to make that judgment.

However, I will concede that this is Baalke’s make or break season. That is if Shad Khan can pull his nose out of his balance ledger long enough to notice.

They have until July 15th, correct? Hopefully a deal is done by then. I’m curious as to why Khan and Baalke feel compelled to defer this past the franchise tag deadline.

He should not play he should sit out and demand a trade if that happens.

That's not how life works.  He has a short window of years to earn the kind of money he's able to earn right now.  This will be his age 27 season coming up.  He probably has 4 or 5 years of prime production left and careers can be ended in a heart beat.  He would be incredibly foolish to sit out games or a season demanding a trade.

I don’t have to wait until the draft and FA. He has botched the Allen and Ridley situation and multiple drafts at this point.

I don’t want him anywhere near the draft or in FA. We are stuck with him now but I have zero faith in him.
Baalke could look like a genius if he uses the Ridley and cap money correctly and get Chris Jones

I share your unease but will remain hopeful…for now.

Like why? Feel likes Baalke took too long of a Xmas break and forgot he had all of this sh1t to do

You're describing someone keeping their options open until they are forced to make a decision and commit to a specific direction.  There's plenty of room for criticism of Baalke, but what you're describing here doesn't have to fall in to that category for me though.  It sounds like smart business.

It's possible they cut guys they might have otherwise held onto getting "about to sign" vibes from Allen and then Allen pump faked them at the end.  Or it's possible they were cutting these guys all along and just waiting to see what other teams did first.  Either way, today isn't a deadline for Allen's camp.  It's solely a team/league deadline and you have to have a willing business partner.  The deadline that both Allen and the team share is July.   We have no idea what was offered to Allen's camp.  Many might get upset with Allen if they saw the offer.

I get all of that, but if the goal was to keep Ridley then this should’ve been done weeks ago.

Tells me we weren’t really interested in retaining Ridley
The main concern is the moves today mean we need to draft a corner who can start right away and draft a receiver who can contribute 1000 yards and 8 tds, for a team that’s struggled in the draft they need those two things at a minimum and that’s before you get to both lines which need major additions

What if they mean we have a capable starter at CB already on the roster and Ridley is going to sign a new deal next week before free agency starts? The PTSD around here is real.

If I was him I would at least try and call their bluff that is if they don't work out a long term deal.

Why do you assume they won't be able to get decent replacements in FA? Why does it have to be the draft?
Chris Jones hahaha

Why on earth would he come to Jacksonville?

Maybe because there aren't really any good FA WRs?

Ridley is by far the best one available.

So they lose a 2nd rounder?

It would make zero sense for Ridley to not test the market. It's in HIS best interest to go out and see what other teams are going to offer. He has zero incentive to sign with the Jags before FA opens.
Allen- Jones- Sweat- Walker

Wouldn't be fair and would we would by far have the best dline in the league.

Can you honestly say they've earned the benefit of the doubt at this point?

It doesn't definitively tell me anything.  It takes two to tango and we don't know what the offer was and probably never will.

Because there isn’t any decent options at those positions in free agency, d line and o line can be helped in free agency, but it’s unlikely you can get two competent starters at cb and wr
