Quote:I think we are competitive, but not as competitive as we should be at this point in the process.

I see an overall lack of talent as still being the biggest challenge (of many challenges) for this team.

Too many one on ones we aren't winning.  The players who can, they stand out.  It is why the team as a whole doesn't stand out.
I agree with this.

I think some of this is due to talent.  Some is due to a lack of maturity.  I think some is due to coaching.

But this has to be the year we see positive results in the W-L column.

I'm not talking an increment of a game or two.  This team has to finish above .500 for Gus to keep his job.

Agreed.  I think it has to be a big enough bump in the W column to have this team playing for a division title or at least a wild card spot at the end of the season.
being competitive... isn't winning. :thanks:

In order to win you have to first be competitive :thanks:

Quote:We did shortly, but also gave half of their team career days. Also, we scored a garbage time TD, which was also my point.
As I recall, there was a pick 6 thrown by Bortles, and an unmitigated disaster by special teams which allowed a point blank score, plus a RB tackled 10 yards behind the LOS as soon as he was hit, fumbled, and it was returned for a TD, too.

This team is not good, don't get me wrong.

But too often, freakish negative plays would happen and sabotage the team's efforts.

How often have you seen a team botch a shotgun snap TWICE for TDs in the same season?

[BLEEP]

Todd Wash's first comments about how things will change from Babich.

That's where he got my attention.....I like this guy....as much as I didn't think I would.

I wish there was a way to know more about how pro football team works with coaches and players.

I mean....was Wash having to keep silent while some of these things were happening with the rest of the D? To hear GUs tell it he let babich run the railroad.

Do these guys ever take each other or players to task like Wash sounds like he's going to do now?

Love to be a fly on the wall.

Oh and in some circles our ownership is being praised for be patient and allowing things to be stable instead of constant change in coaches in a league known as "Not For Long"......guess we'll see. It's Khan's money and he sure didn't come by it not being smart.

I would imagine there are any number of disagreements that occur over the course of a series, game, and season.  Reasonable people can reasonably disagree.  A lack of success can also foster dissonance amongst those entrusted to achieve those results.

Amongst those in the fan base too.
No more cup cakes and journeyman QBs week in and week out.  2016 has the potential to be a real challenge.  Sure the division is weak overall but things do change from year to year.

Yup.  A schedule that looks challenging at the moment could also look very different by the time the team is on the field next season.
Quote:I wish I could be the worst at my job and get a extension

As long a Jeff Fisher is coaching, Gus will never be the worst at his job!   :whistling:
Quote:Its mediocrity at its finest. It's what this team is accustomed to.

Do you ever get tired of pi$$ing and whining?
Im one of the last supporters of Gus Bradley. This shows stability within the organization and not some mess like Cleveland.

A pick 6 from Blake isn't freakish, it happened often. We also gave up 2 TDs to Martin, couldn't stop a rookie QB coming off of a 4 pick game, averaged 2.9 yards a carry, and gave up 6 sacks. If I recall correctly, they were also missing two starters on their dline ( might of been o-line). That game, and pretty much every game, was put squarely on Blake and the Allen's shoulders. If they make a mistake, it's over.

That was the bucs. How is that kind of play " competitive"? I know you don't think the team is great, I'm just asking in general.
Quote:Don't you think having scheme stability has an impact on a player's earnings?

Say a 25 year old DE signs here this offseason for 3 years.  Included in the deal are incentives.

After the first year, Bradley is fired and the scheme changes to something that does not fit his skills.

Not only does he potentially miss out on the incentives in year 2 and 3, if the new regime finds him obsolete, he could even miss out on his base salary if he is cut.

Beyond that, should he peddle his wares elsewhere, his drop in productivity/release is going to be held against him in any future negotiations with other teams.

I get the sentiment that FAs are smart enough to see the extension for what it is.

But there are other considerations, financial and otherwise, that support the extension.

As usual, Bullseye makes more sense than most on the board.

Its night whining when I'm spitting the truth.

True, but when you see your DC do stupid stuff over and over and you're just a line coach and you've tried to talk to him.........what do you do?

Go to the HC?....hold it in?....go home kick the dog?

I DO like the dude.....seems like real when he says....I'm a black and white guy.....there is no grey with me.

A lot higher standards for those that coach soccer.

If there is hope for a loser like Gus, there is hope for me. He is my hero.
