Really space? Lol.

That actually explains alot.

If Bortles were on the Tacks? Ugh, terrible thought. Nevermind.

Anyway, to the topic:

This team is still building/developing. It's not near playoff ready on the defensive side yet (talent-wise). The O-line is still not good enough either.

Gus is getting 2-3 years experience just as some of these young players are. We'll see what happens when this team finally gets enough talent to contend on both sides of the ball. If Gus hasn't improved by then, they'll likely move on from him.

This extension is no big deal IMO.
Quote:20 pages on an insignificant contract extension.

Lol this!!!! I couldn't agree more!
Quote:Going after one guy is trying? That is like going on a diet for a day not losing 20 lbs and stopping the diet.
Explain how they were only going after only one guy?

Last I checked they actually signed a FA safety that wasn't McCourty. Maybe he turned out to not be very good, but according to you the good ones didn't want to be here anyway.

So please, explain how the front office didn't try to bring in a safety?

Quote:I'll go ahead and put this in my sig for future reference.

I like this idea, especially since it has who originally posted it so there will be no denying it later on when the bumping occurs.

Aye, but will it keep those sigs when the board gets reset to erase all pro-Gus comments like they did for Jeans Miff?

Yeah signing Sergio Brown was really going to fix the issues at free safety.

Like I thought, no answer for your ignorant comment.

Hahaha this is kinda true.

"Go back and find where I said Gene Smith is doing a great job. Go ahead"

This was a line for a long time since people couldn't go back to the old board to find it.

I wish that's why the board "reset," maybe that would have made the headache worthwhile.

Well, the problem was... and still is... some folks hate each other so much and project their anger about a situation on fellow posters as if it's their fault.  The low information, low emotional intelligence posters.  Some are perpetual sad sacks constantly spewing on the fanbase, others just the occasional sniper who comes out of hiding to claim how they know everything then go back into hibernation until the next opportunity.

The attitude goes:

If you aren't the most angry poster on the board about [x player sucks, draft pick selection, losing, y coach sucks, swimming pools] therefore you are FOR them!

A lot of people were looking forward to Gene after Shack's first round busts.  Is that not normal?  A lot of folks were looking forward to seeing what the first QB we drafted in nearly a decade could produce for us.  Is that not normal?

I'm not excusing the folks who said any of those people were going to take us to the promised land.  They aren't any more right for it.  But what's wrong is that for the pitchfork crowd to lump anyone who wasn't against those moves (even prior too them being made, it would seem) from the beginning into marching alongside them in "guaranteeing" their success.  Those who actually did say they would take us to the promised land were few and far between.  But that's not how it's sold sometimes.

Errantly included in that crowd were those who weren't yet sold yet one way or the other, and were willing to give the GM or QB another year.  They weren't expecting miracles from Gene.  They weren't expecting Pro Bowl from Gabbert.  They wanted to see improvement, and when it didn't happen, they weren't upset when they were gone.  Cheered it, in fact.

But the nostradumbuss who roasted the patient cared not that Gene's and Gabbert's departure were equally cheered by those who they chose to bash.  I could count on one hand the posters who still believe in Gabbert after his departure, and I don't think a single one of those posters is still around today.  For Gene, none.  But folks still act like they are here... because the wrong people were associated with them.

That's what we call being intellectually dishonest.

And it continues today, no matter what the move the club makes.  Just look at the majority of these threads.  Same song and dance from the Usual SuspectsTM.

So many who aren't actually listening to other people's arguments, just people shouting what they "think" of the other person's argument as to demonize it, so they can hate the argument (and the poster) even more.

Jag board "politics"... and a prime example of it today is the reaction to Gus not being fired.  Right now!

Give it a rest.  He'll earn it in due time if that's his destiny.  Watch more, yap less.

We've won 12 games in 3 years. 19 in the last 5.

You don't think that...maybe...***gasp***... They might be onto something? People supported both Gabbert and Gene Smith until we realized what they were, not tow the company line until they left the team.

I think it's the "in due time" that these posters are having issues with, more then anything else.

They already believe he has earned it and that it IS his destiny.

I find it hard to argue with them at this point.

We will know more at some point during the 2016 season, won't we?
Well said Pirk.

See what I mean... didn't hear a word I said.  Sad...

Saying something contrary that isn't relevant to the point you are attempting to respond to doesn't make you right.

 It makes you lost.

Not really.

He was saying that giving people a chance is a normal thing for normal people. I agreed, and told him people supported Gabbert/ Gene Smith until they realized what they were, as an example.

Did it take you until Gabberts/Smith's last game to figure out they weren't the one?

Yea, me either, that's why I mentioned " the usual suspects" doing the "same ol song and Dance". Guess what? Those " usual suspects" have so far been correct. The people that have blindly supported the Jaguars have not.

Some people know [BLEEP] when they step in it. Hence the "yet I'm right...also sad".

Anything else I missed?

This is ^ what you finished with (followed by "I'm right").   This ^ was in no way the point Pirk was trying to address, and it also happened to be "the same old song and dance." It's also disingenuous if you you've paid attention to his posting.

I really don't think what we are seeing right now parallels the Gene Smith situation at all, so I don't see any point in trying to hash it out with you.  I'll just hope it gets better sooner than later for all of us - under this regime or the next  - whether that make a change in week 6 of 2016 or the 2020 offseason.

Am I not right?Should we of not listened to the pessimistic people because this situation is so much better?

Pirk made a comment about how giving people a chance isn't a bad thing. It's not. It's also not a bad thing to call [BLEEP] when you see it. For example, I, yes Joe, supported the Alualu draft pick. Did it take me until last year to figure out he was garbage? No.

I'll give everyone in the Jaguars organization a chance, but I've been to this rodeo way too many times to make excuses in the last year of their contract.

Gene Smith is a clown. No need to rehash.

Right about what?  Should Gene have been kept around by Khan? No. He should have been gone a year prior IMO.  But, that's the thing - everyone has an opinion and a particular point at which their patience runs out.  Yours runs out faster than mine.
