He hasn't.

I'm not gonna try to analyze the Browns roster needs, but I do know the Jags stand to have about three times the cap space that they do - and they don't need a "defense" and an "o-line."
Jags need a FS, a quality corner, a DE and a C/G depending on where AJ Cann plays next year.
I think Yeldon will be fine running behind Linder, Parnell and a better center next year.
Such a joke of a response. A QB away....really bro....a QB away from winning it all... The Cleveland Browns....

Yes my friend. Someone in this world believes the Browns are a QB away from winning the Super Bowl.

I'm upset with myself for even replying.
Anyway, I like your posts almost all the time. What's your opinion on this situation?

It's prove it time for Bradley in 2016.
Fix the defense and don't step backward on offense or we'll see a new staff in Jacksonville.
I'm mildly optimistic but they've got major work to do. Fingers crossed. They'll need to land at least two plug and play defensive upgrades in free agency for the D. We'll have a better idea where it's headed in March. But it ain't headed to London any time soon.

This is pretty much me now. I expect playoffs this year or I will join the whiner brigade along with many others I'm sure. Hell I'll even say to Rocdee "you were right!"
I don't see why we don't fix the defense at this point and draft heavy defensively.
If we can score a good LG, like the dude from Baltimore, and move Cann to center, I think we'll be good on the offense.

Not sure I'm going to read through 19 pages, but I don't see the problem with it. Then again, I don't think he's guaranteed 2017, either. I think the one year add-on is just for the what-if scenario where Gus performs adequately and new coaches that would otherwise be on the fence may be more likely to jump on-board. I still think that he's out of here if he has another losing season.

No issue with this because it is to safeguard the team in case he does well. Last year Joe Philbin got a 1 year extension from the Dolphins, yet he was fired four games into his fourth season. In our situation if Gus fails and has another losing season, or even starts the season badly (eg 4 or 5 straight defeats going into a hypothetical week 5 or 6 bye week), then Gus will be fired extension or not.

I agree with that, too.

I have to admit I was utterly shocked to see this...
Obviously, Khan can still fire him if he blows it next season (he'll just walk away with more money).
But a 1 year extension communicates a lack of long-term confidence so I don't understand what it accomplishes.
Also, the reasons Caldwell cited for the extension..."much-needed stability," "Gus' good standing with players, provides certainty for free agents," "helps deliver the continuity throughout our coaching staff." Not one mention of leadership at all.
I don't think there is clear leadership in the organization and I have no idea where this franchise is going.

exactly jeremy....
Well, is what it is....but.....does it really make a difference to a FA whether the coach is in final year or has one more year on a contract that can be torn up anytime? I would think what makes a difference to a FA is that....there haven't been 3 coaches in the previous 4 years like the browns.
If I help this team and coach to win more next season.... life only gets better for everyone.
in other words do they look at history? or the future?

You're wrong. It's not there. The London NFL thing is in a trial period and will be voted on by NFL voters in 2-4 years. The trial period has Khan at the forefront getting ready to jump when the decision is made. Remember NO owners say they are leaving a city until THEY LEAVE. Khan is 100% interested in moving the NFL overseas and maximizing his revenue. You'll see

There will be no NFL team in London. The travel is just too difficult. Not sure why this is so hard to understand for some people.

Gus Bradley was extended and Jacksonville literally froze over. Not a coincidence.

Quote:It's the same scheme. Maybe he will be better at playcalling by being more unpredictable, but expecting huge changes makes no sense. This is Gus' defense. Always has been.
What about the fact that we will have a 50% roster turnover on defense? An actual LEO, an actual OTTO, an actual FS, an actual CB1, an actual pass rushing DE. That's assuming Cyprien isn't replaced as well.
This doom and gloom stuff is so out of whack it's ridiculous. Did y'all not see what Caldwell did with the offense? They might not change as single thing to that unit.
Do you not understand the national perception of this team is of a well-coached one on the rise? Some of you need to step away and try an objective perspective. This team is not a dumpster fire. This team is ascending. This team is close. Real close. After the offseason and the FA period you will all see it.
