Players may not be as willing to come here if they think the coaching situation could change, and having a coach in the final year of his contract would certainly be reason for second thought.

Agree or not, giving Bradley a 1 year extension doesn't prevent him from being fired if he doesn't deliver in 2016. Nothing has changed about that. If the team isn't competing for a playoff spot and the division next year, Gus is going to take the fall.
Won't players just see he is only on a one year deal or are we assuming they are all dummies?
Quote:You're using logic. Toss that out and go with the hand wringing approach of the special ones in this thread. Much easier.

You can tow the company line as hard as you want but in the end all Free agents care about is money, not if Gus will be my coach next season.
This thread is gonna be epic, stay tuned.............................................................

Well, if the money is comparable then it's a matter of wins vs vacation and we know how that works out in Jville.
Quote:I have no problem with this. Last year was the first real jump in performance. 2014 had a rookie O, could barely move the ball, and was just an all around train wreck. So DC and GB brought in a highly sought after FA, a new OC and Doug M to coach the line. That fixed a lot of issues in itself so kudos to them for finding what we needed on O to GET US GOING ON OFFENSE. We saw improvements in Gus' time management in key situation this past season and they fixed the red zone issues the last 1/4 of the season. It sucks that we only had a handful of wins, I can not argue that point, but if at this point we fire the HC (which keep in mind, every player on this team seems to greatly admire) who would you want? But let's be real too, which big name HC would come to JAX? Because since I've been following the team no big free agent coach or player except Julius Thomas has really wanted to come here. It frustrates me to no end thinking of changing coaches every year. Constant change and instability only creates perennial bottom dwellers. I feel we are on the brink of rising from the ashes. So let the team grow.

This will fall on deaf ears. People seem to think Jacksonville has the same allure as New York of Philly. In reality we are a town that has huge growth potential but that's it. The only way to really build this franchise is to create stability and build through the draft. FA is good because we have the money to over pay anyone we want but the truth is the draft is gonna be our bread and butter and that takes time.

See teams like the 9ers can suck for the next 8 years and not bat an eye because they know they have a stable fan base, ownership and will acquire a ton of great players in the process to make another run. Unfortunately our franchise is not old enough to have endured such hardships so we have not been exposed to the Tim Ratays and Joey Harringtons of the world (although Blaine was really close).

I just laughed when I heard this because I knew everyone on this board would react just like this. It's still funny. I'm sorry we aren't a once in a generation power house like the Pats but that is just not the norm. Somebody stated that the last 13 out of 15 Super Bowls featured Manning, Brady or Big Ben. If that does tell you that there are tons of team waiting at home every year then I don't know what to say.

This team is improving and the arrow is pointing up wether people want to see it our not. Instead for throwing hissy fits when the team doesn't do something you like why not support them and try to understand the big picture? Look at it from a larger scope. I think most would rather be right than to actually see the team succeed. And guess what if in ample enough time we don't continue to see improvement then will we gut the front office and build it over again.

I'd rather have these guys excel though.
Lol
Quote:If you had it your way, Gene Smith would still be the GM. Trust the process right? The Jags always know what they are doing. Look at all the wins we have over the years!!!!

He's afraid to disagree with whatever this organization does. I never see him do it. Maybe he does and just doesn't want to display it on the message board.

Hahah logic?

Let's hope FAs don't use that same type of logic you speak of when they can clearly see he's gone if he doesn't succeed.

The extension means absolutely nothing.

12 wins. It's not that we don't win the Super Bowl, it's that we can't field a competent team.
I love how people are acting like Free Agents won't be able to figure out what the Jaguars Message Board and the clowns at 1010xl already know. Singing Gus to a one year extension doesn't fool anybody.

This teams is run by a bunch of chimps.

Have to agree 100% here.  This extension is all about aesthetics.  If Gus sucks next year, he's going to be gone.  But giving the appearance of confidence in your coach and stability will look good for the org.

Imagine trying to recruit a CB to play for the Ice Cream Zone. "You will drop back into soft zone every play and give up free completions. No blitzes, so don't expect any pressure on the QB. You will get 3 INTs at most if you are lucky, but we serve ice cream after the games and Gus doesn't care if you suck at your job. So, are you ready to sign?"

And whats the big picture? We have been waiting for many years to see a good product on the field. All i ever hear is we are on the rise, so when will we rise?

Yeah, probably. Odd they didn't do it prior to the DC search.

You would think the Jags were a model organization that wins Super Bowls with the way some of these apes defend every move.
Haha Gus haters gonna jump off the Modis building

Just because he got an extension doesnt mean if he screws up next year he wont be out

But I think we make the playoffs next year anyways

Good news.

Tried telling you guys....Shad Khan is a pansy. He can't man up. Gus Bradley has the worst coaching record in LEAGUE history. I am a Bortles fan, not a fan of this inept franchise. Starting to hope Blake leaves these idiots for a real franchise.

What in the world makes you think that?
