Quote:We've had zero pass rush for 15 years now.
Yea, all of those coaches run completely different defenses... But yea...
lol people on this board have no clue what they speak of.
Name the pass rushers over that time we've drafted that could consistently provide pass rush.
Name the free agent pass rushers we've signed that stayed healthy enough to consistently provide pass rush.
Quote:A pick 6 from Blake isn't freakish, it happened often. We also gave up 2 TDs to Martin, couldn't stop a rookie QB coming off of a 4 pick game, averaged 2.9 yards a carry, and gave up 6 sacks. If I recall correctly, they were also missing two starters on their dline ( might of been o-line). That game, and pretty much every game, was put squarely on Blake and the Allen's shoulders. If they make a mistake, it's over.
That was the bucs. How is that kind of play " competitive"? I know you don't think the team is great, I'm just asking in general.
Somehow I missed this post earlier. I apologize for not responding sooner.
I agree, a pick 6 from BB thus far in his career has happened far too often, but in the overall scheme of things is still "freakish." Giving up the tons of yardage to Martin was not a fluke, but if you are going to mention the Bucs injuries, also note that Poz did not play MLB in that game, and the run defense was good up until this game-the first Poz missed this year.
It's "competitive" in a couple of ways.
1. The team was in a position to win the game pretty late in the game. Even though it was the Bucs, it was still an NFL opponent.
2. Compared to seasons past, we wouldn't have had a legitimate shot to win that game and others.
Now I don't assert the Bucs game was "perfect," by any stretch.
I DO, however, assert that despite the horrible play in some aspects, the game was close and the team had the potential to win in the second half.
I think that qualifies as "competent" and "competitive," especially for all of the youth on the team.
I would also assert the bar for "competence" and "competitiveness" will be much higher this year, for any number of reasons.
As it SHOULD be.
