Quote:Lol what you thinking he drinking for?? Do I need to expose him? Or can we just leave it alone?

You need to expose him, bc I don't think you can in this regard. He's 24, he said he doesn't go partying at the beach bars. Said he didn't even go once in his interview I believe. So what, I'm supposed to believe the rumors and assume he's a liar without proof? Nah.

Blake sucks at football, but the people grasping at the drunk straw suck in general.

Put up or shut up.

Do it. Show us how much of a problem he really had/has. Along with the timestamps on the photos so we know they're during the season.

Also, you've never been out to the bar to have a good time without getting [BLEEP] faced? There's a HUGE difference between having a few beers and being a drunk.
If you google Blake Bortles drunk, the first three links are this friggin forum. Pitiful.

Young millionaire has beers with team mates and friends at bars. Oh the humanity.

Some of you folks allow your frustration with the win/loss record of this team to type some of the dumbest [BLEEP] ever punched into a keyboard.

Quote:Goes to show how powerful the rumor mill can be. That they felt the need to publicly acknowledge the perception that he was drinking all the time.

I didn't get the impression it was none out of necessity.

I think it's more notable that they included it.  It was not ducked, sidestepped, or omitted (and could have been.)

To me it was more a choice made, than a choice forced.

I agree. I certainly did not mean to infer that they were forced to but it's obvious that someone wanted it addressed. It is not a normal topic to discuss with a QB I wouldn't think.

I'd wager heavily that it was Blake's agent or publicist that suggested he knock down the rumors ahead of his event.

His agent benefits by polishing his image ahead of a contract year and his publicist benefits by attracting more Duval conservatives to his charity event.

It was the smart thing to do from several angles.

Considering his candor and the nature of the rumors that were spreading, I'm inclined to believe him. Not that it really bothered me anyway.   His issues last season stemmed from lack of proper preparation in the offseason.

Cutting out a few weeknight beers wasn't going to help him.

Also for the record, I can assure you, Brett favre knocked down a lot of beers all week every week and he was fine...

Drinking beer isn't illegal or detrimental to a person. In fact studies have proven that having a beer or two a day can be beneficial. As long as these guys aren't getting tanked and making bad decisions, let them live. Jesus.
I like Fowler. The Jags just need to find a place for him, so he can be a starter.  Would rather see Ngakoue start full time at DE. I think he's gonna be a beast.

Still think a LB  spot might be right for Dante.

So, is Blake still impersonating Byron Leftwich? Or is looking more like Drew Brees?

I think the starting Dline is pretty set right now.

Campbell Jackson Jones Ngakoue

Fowler will get snaps at the strong side DE position when they are in the nickel package. (Ngakoue plays the weak side DE)

Fowler could also get some looks at weak-side DE in base formation.

He played 53% of the defensive snaps in 2016.  I wouldn't expect that to drop below 45% personally.  I think they intend to bring him along.

Campbell is getting paid but he's no spring chicken and they aren't going to trot him out there for 50+ snaps per game IMO.  To me that means he'll play as part of a heavy rotation in the middle on nickel - and play around 70-80% of the base downs at strong-side-end.

Personally, I think this may be a really good nickel pass rush package:

Fowler  -  Campbell  -  Jackson  -  Ngakoue

(That inside stunt from Fowler could be even more effective with Campbell setting it up.)

Base:

Campbell  - Jones  - Jackson  -  Ngakoue/Fowler
Wait.... what is this thread about?

This was an interesting interview with Blake addressing a number of topics we discuss here on the forum

This has been posted already, but maybe it didn't have its own thread.

This has been posted a few times.

This thread is probably a good idea anyway since someone locked the other one.
