Quote:I remember the offseason mechanical change video hype all over ESPN every offseason for Tebow too.
Tebow never went for 70 and 11,000 over his first three seasons so there is a bit of a difference.

Quote:Unwilling to buy in to "but next year"? The guy had a breakout season 18 months ago. Did he have a bad season last year...yes. Did he play for the worst head coach of all time, re-tread OC and pathetic offensive line...yes. He deserves a year with a real coach and if he doesn't win you move on but he deserves a chance given the dumpster fire the organization threw him in for 3 years.
Quote:The problem is our qb going into his fourth year is still worrying about his mechanics.Once again, do we say the same thing about Cam Newton and Tom Brady who work on their arm mechanics every year. Stop acting like Blake Bortles working on his mechanics is anomaly despite the fact the other QBs does the same thing.
Thats a huge issue.
All i can say is im damn glad he started his first year instead of sitting watching coverages and working on his throwing motion. It really paid off.

Quote:Hahahaha
Quote:Let's not take ourselves too seriously..I want Blake to do well.
Quote:I remember the offseason mechanical change video hype all over ESPN every offseason for Tebow too.This. Yes he threw for 35 TDs, but that was your "lightning in a bottle" scenario. He has never completed over 60% over a season and his arm "tires" over the duration of a season because his mechanics revert and decay, When you throw a ball incorrectly for long enough it will wear your arm out(may even cause injury), causing less power behind your passes, less accuracy and your timing is off too. I have little faith in Bortles at this point, but if he can somehow unlearn his old mechanics and keep his footwork/arm in check for 16-20 games(probably more likely to win the lotto twice) he can be really good. Otherwise, just another project QB that busted out of the 1st round.

Better D (in ppg terms) and better run game most likely means a better Blake.

Quote:He needs to work on his mechanics which will help him avoid the bad throws that result in turnovers and raise his completion percentage but it's hard to think of a guy who's been responsible for as much offense as he has as a bust. For some perspective, look at some previous Jags starter's first 3 years.
Brunell
43 games started, 9,816 yards, 63.8% completion percentage, 53 TDs, 34 INTs.
Leftwich
38 games started, 7,883 yards, 58.6% completion percentage, 44 TDs, 41 INTs
Bortles
46 games started, 11,241 yards, 58.8% completion percentage, 69 TDs, 51 INTs.
Sure, Bortles has to bring down the turnovers and work on the completion percentage, but if you take Brunell as the gold standard (Pride of the Jaguars and all that), Bortles is at least in the conversation.
