Hahahaha

Cutler and RG3?! Are you on crack?
Quote:Who gives a [BAD WORD REMOVED] if it produced wins… And to bring the argument that you and the usual suspects do on this topic, who cares… "Stats don't mean anything", right?

This is a TEAM sport... And if all of those phases were running effectively and contributed to more wins, while Bortles puts up "inefficient low numbers" - then pencil me in because thats what we want as JAGUARS FANS.

All you want to do is cry about something and you seem to be able to see the future or revised past.

Here is one of those MB Nostradamus' I was talking about JIB.
But it doesn't guarantee wins. Why would you assume that?
Quote:Some of you don't want Bortles but are willing to give Cutler a chance?!!
I know… I am really starting to lose faith in some of "fans" that we have…

I'm starting to think that the national perception of some Jaguars fans might be true.

Why would you assume that it wouldn't?

Our offense would benefit immensely if we could actually run the ball effectively, because defenses would not be able to sit on routes and pin their ears back to attack our QB. Not to mention more ball control/time management - and I'm just explaining this to you in the simplest terms.

Go back a few pages and in other threads where I broke down how putrid our running game has been and why it has also contributed to our teams shortfall last year.
Quote:All of whom I am sure are more than happy to sit on the bench while the team finds out if Bortles is good or not.

Don't the team have enough tape on Bortles to determine that assumption already??
Quote:That's why you look at rate numbers not overall numbers. Not so hard to understand.

Blake's bad rates were propped up by huge volume. If the volume wasn't so large because the team was bad, then his rates would have been bad and so would his overall numbers.

In 2015 Bortles' numbers were roughly similar to that of Matt Ryan. Ryan had a better completion rate (66.3 versus 58.6) but had a roughly similar amount of INT's and a lot fewer TD's (21/16 versus 35/18) while getting sacked a lot less (30 for 206 versus 51 for 320). I think your "rates" talk is baloney, Bortles in 2015 looked like a largely competent QB that needed to improve a few elements of his game (INT's and completion percentage) to break into the top third of NFL QB's. For a myriad of reasons he wasn't able to do that and he regressed massively from 2015 to 2016, some of that regression is on the coaches but some of it is on Bortles. The coaches have been replaced and Bortles appears to be have recognized whatever his part was in the regression is working to correct that.

Funny I was thinking the same thing of your optimism about Blake! Haven't he showed you enough? Dude Cutler and Rg3 better then Blake!

So if we win a few more games because the supporting cast it better, that means we have found our franchise QB? That's the conversation.
Quote:And just to add:

Cutler: Just cut by the 3-13 Bears, has had two winning seasons in 11 years.

Romo: hasn't played a full season since 2014, will be 37 years old with a bad back.

RG3: Cut by the 1-15 Browns, only one full season. Hasn't played a majority of games since 2013.

Bridgewater: one year away from ACL surgery, even the Vikings don't think he's ready for 2017.

Garopollo: Did Matt Cassell not teach you people anything? Also gonna cost a fortune to trade for him.

Taylor: 8-6 & 7-8 over last two season. Gonna cost a fortune to trade for him.

To win it cost! I'd rather do any of the above then to gamble on a Qb who doesn't win!
Quote:Can you imagine the slobbering that would be going on around here if Blake showed any stretch like the last 3 throws we saw Teddy make before the injury? Whew it would be pandemonium.

Just in case anyone forgot. Stellar.

Lol. Stellar? The first throw was wide open down the middle of the field.

The second throw was very good - but I've seen bortles make that throw more than once before for completions.

Last throw was decent again but nothing spectacular.

I have been very tough on Bortles and personally think he sucks, but that twitter feed showed one nice throw. NFL qbs make those every now and then.

Blake has never had a 3 throw stretch like that. The board would crash for the rest of the day if he did that in a game.

I'm sure he has. I can't prove it right now but I am sure he has. What you showed us was not that great dude.

1. That was preseason.

2. Bortles has made some absolutely gorgeous throws in the NFL. To imply otherwise is disingenuous. You can disqualify any nice stretch Bortles has however you want- garbage time, unsustainable, etc. But keep in mind you are using preseason throws to prop up another QB.
See the Jets game in 2015, right before halftime. Spins two absolute dimes to Hurns right down the sideline, one for a touchdown, that were better than any of those 3 Teddy preseason throws.

They showed literally everything you want to see. Timing, mechanics, quick release, great accuracy and good zip to both honey holes, standing tall with a pass rush bearing down on you.

What more could you want?

Literally every QB in the league makes good throws. Bridgewater isn't good.

Every NFL QB has made absolutely gorgeous throws...even Tebow, even Gabbert...

That's one.
I don't even care to argue this, he was looking extremely promising going into his second season before the injury...that's it.

I have yet to bring up Teddy a single time since we passed on him. I don't understand why so many people have such a fetish about him still.

Starting at about 1 minute into that video, 3 great throws to Hurns. This is regular season and are better tosses than the Teddy preseason show.
