Quote:Yeah I guess some people might have (the idiots that bash him for going to the bars), but out of all of my many criticisms of Blake his worth ethic has never been one.
He is looking better than Teddy
Quote:I think he'll be fine. Maybe it's homerism, maybe it's just blind optimism. But something tells me he's going to turn it around.

I agree. We're going to be hearing Bortle's name in a positive light in the national media continuously throughout the season.

Can you imagine the slobbering that would be going on around here if Blake showed any stretch like the last 3 throws we saw Teddy make before the injury? Whew it would be pandemonium.

Just in case anyone forgot. Stellar.

Lets see if he does it in pads with Clowney and Watt coming straight at him.

That requires them both to be healthy at the same time, something which seems elusive
That has nothing to do with my point.

if healthy, any team and QB would have issues dealing with them.  If it's one or the other and it's still not improved then I think it's safe to say we'll be in the top 5 drafting a qb again

Only issue with the video, is the fact that it is a simulated 7 step drop from under center. While the offense will change next year, I pretty sure we did not run that very much the past few years. Needs to be able to do it from shotgun, 3 step drop, 5 step drop, on rollout and after giving a PA fake too. Then work on the look past the first read to the second read and keeping the same mechanics.

But it's a start...

His motion has actually always been tight on rollouts.

I would imagine he's doing plenty of other dropbacks in his training...
he is working hard to get better yes,bu major difference between today, and the nfl season. he had no presure on him from a teams defense. its a lot harder under presure im sure.

He needs enough reps at this point that his arm would be hot garbage by September.

Hope he gets it together...

Quote:Unfortunately, he is one of many on here that feel this way about blake so it just a losing battle trying to argue with them.
True...Never seen so many "fans" want their QB to fail just to plug another guy in.  The Jags have been plugging another guy in for 2 decades and it hasn't worked.  You'd think they'd want their QB to be successful at some point.
There is a difference between "wanting him to fail" and just being unwilling to buy into the "but next year...!" hype that most of us have seen for most of the last 16 years.  I know I want Blake to do great. I want the team to do great. I want to go into every game thinking and hoping we'll win. But, every year we're fooled. It's great that he's working on his mechanics and I hope it sticks this time, but nothing we've seen gives me reason to think it'll wind up any different than the last three years.

Watching Bortles throwing motion last year was like watching Charles Barkley golf, it was so cringy and you're just left asking yourself "why is the ball down around his belt as he winds up this throw?" "what is that weird hitch in the motion"... this looks better, hope he doesnt change back.

The guy standing there who Bortles sailed it over was the intended receiver and the guy that ended up catching it was the DB. #Pick6
Until he has pressure in his face and starts throwing ducks again.

Bortles will throw ducks out of a clean pocket sometimes lol
Apparently this guy posts here a lot.... under several screen names.

Quote:He needs to hit something like 10000 reps for muscle memory so he needs to throw a lot everyday.
Actually.

The number of reps required to accomplish what we refer to as " muscle memory " varies greatly from one individual to the next.

" muscle memory " actually begins immediately when a motion is repeated.

There are several factors that effect ones " muscle memory " other than the repetition of motion.

And just as the amount of repetitions needed to create muscle memory varies from one individual to the next extenuating circumstances that affect muscle memory also vary from one individual to the next.

What were looking for is Blakes ability to improve his overall mechanical throwing motion and everything associated with it.

I.E. his pre motion thought process, his foot placement, his desired velocity ( pre release )...

Ect...ect...ecr ..

Even with as much training as he can physically accomplish in the off season there are circumstances that occur during the regular season that can not be practiced.

I.e. Injury, physical and mental fatigue, nutritional variants, inclement weather, ball pressure inconsistencies, barometric pressure, and the ultimate wild card...a live pass rush.

So all of that being said....

Blake does NOT have a great chance to consistently throw well through an entire season.ever.

However. ...

I can tell you this...first hand...

Blake is not here partying, he's not here because he has to be here, he is here because he KNOWS he's not a natural thrower of a football and because he WANTS TO WIN SUPER BOWLS AS A JAGUAR AND he believes next year he has a good of a chance as any starting qb to win it all.

He believes.

Re; Bortles looking better...

I've seen him throw quite a bit and even though he has thrown some nice sprials, and he can make the ball whistle as it cuts through the air......

I think it's critical that he has some sustained success next year.

And if he doesn't he's done as a qb...

That's IMHO

Unwilling to buy in to "but next year"?  The guy had a breakout season 18 months ago.  Did he have a bad season last year...yes.  Did he play for the worst head coach of all time, re-tread OC and pathetic offensive line...yes.  He deserves a year with a real coach and if he doesn't win you move on but he deserves a chance given the dumpster fire the organization threw him in for 3 years.
