Quote:Much more believable than the pats doing the messing with their own ball. Rolleyes

Are we sure the Pats have balls?  didn't their wives take those?

Or does Belichick do that?
Quote:Another interesting stat:

If you look at just Brady's fumbles as a % of Sacks you get something like:

2001-2006: 59 fumbles / 182 sacks (32%)
2007-2014: 37 fumbles / 182 sacks (20%)

Welp, It's official .... Tiny Balls.

Belicheck keeps them...why do you think no one ever rats him out?? :woot:
OMG! We sucked this whole time because the Patriots cheated! Bulichick is turrible.

Yes...because that's the point everyone is making in this thread...
Brady's QBR jump after 2007 is interesting:

Brady: '01 to '06 = 88.5
Brady: '07 to '14= 99.7

and Manning's for comparison's sake:

Manning: '01 to '06 = 99.7
Manning: '07 to '14=101.0

Don't mind me. This Saturday I got this idea I'd watch SNL after not watching it for years, at the back of my mind thinking maybe they do a deflategate skit. And it opened with a deflategate skit!

But it was so disappointing. I had a hard time figuring out the impressions. And never really did.
Whoops, I accidentally hit post before I was finished. I'm sure I was about to write something awesome, but maybe not.

Don't think this says much. Most QBs get better with more experience.

After their first 3 years, most stay pretty consistent throughout their career.
The issue has been decided.  Belicheat did his own scientific "research" and said they found the PSI cold have changed up to 1 PSI by handling and atmospheric conditions.  Somehow, he thinks that explains why their balls were 2 PSI under.  Anyway, he's done talking about and anxious to come up with a "game plan" for the Seahawks.  I assume it involves shortening the 1st down chains, but only on the Pats' sideline.

Thanks for the Monday morning laugh.  The skirting on little things tells you they have an institutional problem with breaking the rules.  It is easy to say yeah but this stuff is small stuff but really it is just the arrogance involved.
I think the NFL should come down hard on them.  I was a Pats fan for many years before the Jags came along and I did suffer through the lean years.  I don't hate 'em, but I sure don't like this coach and QB's smug willingness to cheat as if they deserved it just because they were clever or something.  Looking at the statistical anomalies, it appears they have been doing this since 2007.  That's a lot of wins that now come into question.  Give any team 1 less turnover per game and It will lead to several wins a year, which for a good team translates into #1 playoff seeds instead of going on the road as a #5 wildcard.

More importantly they added Moss and Welker to replace the Shmoes that were previously their wideouts. They gave him talent to work with.
Wilson, the company who manufactures the balls used by the NFL came out today and said that Belichick's rant on the balls, air temp etc wasn't accurate at all.

They had a scientist from Boston do the research.  Not exactly an unbiased source.

Perhaps I missed it, but I haven't seen anyone link to anything supporting Belichick's claims on Saturday, but he apparently does have some scientists agreeing with him according to this article:

that's what I said.  It's a scientist from Boston.

If the Jaguars deflated their balls this year, we'd still be 3-13. This story and Brunnel's rant is stupid.
It works with the tires on my car.   In 80 degree weather, they register 35 to 37 PSI.   When it's 50 degrees, they register 30-32 PSI.

Cold air will deflate things.   There's no doubt about that.   When warm air becomes cold, it contracts.
