Quote:At least Brady was smart enough to pay them in cash and free shoes.  But it's obvious this was not a 1 game incident.  Statistical analysis suggests it went on for 6 seasons.  I don't think it's possible that Belichick did not know.  Even if it wasn't Belichick's idea, teams do their own analytics.  This was a large statistical anomaly where fumbles suddenly dropped to half the league average and stayed there for 6 years.  The coach would know.
Yup, "Common sense" would allow one to come to this conclusion.
First this was a thing, then it wasn't a thing, now it's back to being a thing again?

When's that pats fan gonna show up and tell us all its not really a thing again?? :woot:
It's always been a thing... cheating is bad, mmmkay

I think we are all waiting with baited breathe for Papes response!!
Quote:You surely couldn't be a routine user of that "common sense" emoticon. The facts that were originally out at the beginning of this ordeal would allow common sense to determine what the final rulings did.

The level of smugness and superiority of the poster rubbed many, including myself, the wrong way. The crow to be had here is nice to see.

I guess now I'm being smug, and childish... so be it!! :-)

You dang right.
Quote:That is why there is a penalty. Did you really just post this thought?

Did you really just think this post?

Says the guy who came up with this gem...."Isn't committing penalties like holding cheating?"

Maybe they should hold a 5 month investigation for each hold.

I really think Brady is done and will choose to retire.  Look at it from his point of view.  He will be disgraced either way, but continuing to play with the stigma of CHEATER following him around?  I don't think he can handle it.  I also seriously wonder how effective he can be with a regulation ball.  There's a reason they systematically deflated balls for him, and it is because he is a turnover machine with a regulation ball.

Other little damning tidbits:  Brady did not call or text one of the equipment managers for 6 months before the AFC Championship game.   But after the scandal broke, Brady called this guy and talked for more than an hour.  Then for the first time in his 20-year employment with the team, the ball boy met with Brady in the QB Room at Gillette Stadium.  Brady had claimed to the media that he did not know this person's name, another obvious lie.

lol no
Quote:Weren't the Pats the least fumbling team over the past 6 years or so?

I thought I read that somewhere.

Coincidence?? You decide.

I believe the Stat was something like the Patriots number of touches per fumble in outdoor games went from being in the low forties to like 72 or 74 per fumble. It was a pretty significant difference from 2007 on I believe it was. I saw a graph and post about it in an article and on twitter but can't remember the exact numbers. I think the rest of the league remained constant in the mid to low forties while the Patriots number jumped up into the 70's.
The thing is, this comprises the integrity of the game. Things like that should be met with harsh punishment.

Ol' Rog has typically pushed that "protecting" the shield is of high importance. We'll see.

Clearly I destroyed your argument on all counts.

Why not?  20 grand per page is CRAZY CHEAP!

Exactly
So by cheating the Pats were able to make the ball easier to throw, easier to catch and reduce fumbles by half.

This game of football is very simple. Throwing and catching the football is the most important thing that happens on the field; you have to have a potent passing attack to win games in this league. The second most important factor is winning the turnover battle.

So if the Pats have been deflating their balls all this time, their entire dynasty needs to be called into question. They literally have won nothing. They cheated. They are losers.

Every team cheats. Every QB alters the ball in some fashion or another. Remember Brad Johnson admitted to paying off ball boys to alter his balls. The thing is though to not get caught. The team and/or player that gets caught has to be made an example of.

Sorry Brady that means you.
Pats go undefeated next year because Dark Lord Belichick.

This.  I can't believe the apologists like Prisco are trying to make this go away, saying everybody cheats, there was no proof, etc.  There was no proof because Tom Brady refused to cooperate.  This was the same thing as in the SpyGate coverup - the evidence destroyed.  Robert Kraft lied through his teeth when he said the Patriots organization will cooperate fully with the investigation.  Isn't Tom Brady part of the Patriots organization?  Isn't the Assistant Equipment Manager part of the Patriots organization?  They refused to allow him to be interviewed a second time.  Brady refused to cooperate at all.  Kraft is a liar and a cheat.

Eight years of deliberate cheating, and a Super Bowl reward after they're caught.  Bob and Roger have this thing under control, with boot-lickers like Prisco providing cover.

People are making it out as a bigger deal then it is, or the NFL rules even has it as, in the rule book the fine for not having the balls at the right PSI is $25,000, not suspensions, not draft picks. If the NFL had thought it was such a huge deal they would have a bigger punishment in there own rules book.

Now if they want to hit the Pats harder for being repeat offenders ok, but dont try to act like this is so huge, and OMG Pats rigged the game suspend Brady for 6 games stuff needs to stop.

Lets be real here, you cant even tell the balls are under PSI with the naked eye or barely by touching them.
