Quote:And he's still headed for the single best year for a Jaguars quarterback ever, by a mile.

no he's not.  he's headed for the most yards and touchdowns, but overall qb play is more than just numbers.

A few Brunell and Garrard seasons were way better than what we're seeing out of Blake this year.

disclaimer:  Bortles is much better this year than last year.  He's putting up a lot of yards and touchdowns, but that is because of his high-risk high reward style of play.  He is also committing a lot of turnovers and this offense is not scoring a lot of points.  Overall, he is not having the best Jaguars quarterback season.  Numbers certainly don't tell the whole story.

Which doesn't really help his case, it just points to the ineptitude of the franchise. Carr, the 2nd round QB in that draft class is better than Bortles, and its by more than a couple miles. More like light years.

Quote:you know he completed 70% of his passes today

24/40 = 60% which would be below the league average. You also missed the fact that he is completing around 55% of his passes on the season.

What Garrard season was "way better"?

Have to disagree. He had an elite running game. Also, he missed three game stretch with an injury and there was no drop off from him to Quinn Gray.

You mean the one where we were almost the first team to have two 1,000 yard rushers? Garrard was very good that year but he had a great rushing duo and a good O-line.

He was asked to do very little. That's why Gray was able to go 2-1, beating two playoff teams when Garrard was injured. He only had 18 TD's that year.

Blake has 17 iTD's in 8 freakin games. Like i told ya'll before you can't talk rational with irrational people.

18td/3 picks was good. Didn't he throw for like 2200 yards? How is that great?

How is Carr's play relevant to Bortles? That's the same reasoning parents use when their kid won't finish dinner. Just because someone in Africa have less to eat doesn't make you child less stuffed and just because Carr is playing well doesn't mean Bortles' is playing like crap.

As for your first sentence; how does playing very good in an inept franchise somehow weaken his case?

And we could actually win in the trenches back then.
Garrard also had only 3 picks.  He was the perfect QB for our team that year.  Under his guidance (and our rushing attack/defense) we were able to have a winning year and win in the playoffs.

We are very very very far away from that.  Let's not pretend that his year was ordinary.  He had a great running game - but lets not kid ourselves - he also did a very good job that year.  Credit him when due, guys.

Garrard threw for 2,509 that year and blake has 2200 yds in 8 freakin games

He was a game manager, nothing more. He did not throw many interceptions because they didn't let him throw the ball downfield.
Quote:24 of 40 is 60%.

Maybe he's counting the ones he threw to the jets.

So Aaron Rodgers has started his downward slide? No good qb would throw an interception late in a close game, with a chance to take the lead.

2500 yards and 64% completion. He was also sacked just 21 times, Bortles is already up to 24 sacks this season.

he played 12 games and threw for 2500 yards, 18 TDs and 3 picks.

he was a conservative QB without many weapons in the passing game.

he did what he was supposed to and we made the playoffs and won in the playoffs.

give me that year over throwing for 4000 yards, many because we're always behind, and a ton of costly turnovers and pick 6's.

I can't even imagine what the Jaguars record would be if they had guys like Henderson, Stroud, Peterson and Mathis in their prime on this defense.

Thanks! Didn't have the actual numbers.
